Constable, possibly Blakey and Jed Anderson could be a similar value and cheap. There could be more similar players around as depth.
Yep, Constable is depth there, but that's it at this stage if Fiorini goes. Tsitas not up to it IMO.

Would be on board with Anderson - I thought he was pretty good against us in Darwin.
Blakey, haven't seem him play recently enough to have a good opinion on him.

I do think we need at least one of those guys, in addition to Constable as back up midfield depth.

Post Trade Period Round 1 Team

Lemmens - Collins - Long
Ballard - Graham - Farrar
Ellis - Miller - Hollands
Ainsworth - Chol - Jeffrey
Rosas - King - Holman

Witts - Anderson - Rowell

Swallow - Lukosius - Davies - Flanders

Sub: Fiorini

Once Budarick, Weller and Powell are back and available this team will look a lot stronger. Powell hopefully isn't too far after round 1, the others won't be back till mid year at least.

Powell could move forward to the wing too if are backline is settled.

I like this team just think its 1 defender short. Powell the obvious one if fit, mac Andrew I think with another pre season definitely a chance and maybe even Olli hollands off a half back. Going out I think maybe holman, although I like him I think its time for Flanders, Davies to have more game time and help fill the pressure fwd role aswell as going through the middle. Swallow also could play more fwd.

Our expectations are finals.
But wow it will be hard.

Many fringe contenders from last year got better
Richmond - Taranto, Hopper - didn't lose anyone significant
Bulldogs - Lobb, Jones (lose Dunkley), although address their weak KPP in a major way.
Port - JHF, Rioli - didn't lose anyone significant

Would be aiming to jump St Kilda.
Maybe Collingwood, Freo??

And remain above Hawks, Essendon, Adelaide, West Coast, North, GWS

I honestly don't think Richmond are a slam dunk. Their key defenders and forwards are aging, and Martin is pretty much a spent force. Taranto and Hopper will help, but I am yet to be convinced by them.
I think they'll be good
Martin, Cotchin, Riewwoldt are just about spent but will still do a few good things a game.

Taranto, Bolton, Hopper, Baker, Short, Graham, Pickett with Prestia, Cotchin, Martin also playing important roles (when fit) is a pretty good midfield.

KPP
Balta is a gun defender who weirdly played forward a bit last year - I'm sure he'll go back.
Gibcus had a great first year
Lynch would have won the Coleman if he played the whole year and won their B+F
Cumberland was a great find late in the year kicking 19 goals in 8 games.

Can't argue too much, Sharp might should be around it for a spot, and Casboult deserves a shot at some stage

B- Long Collins Powell
HB- Lukosious Ballard Weller
C- Ellis Anderson Sharp
HF- Ainsworth Chol Hollands
F- Rosas King Jeffery
FOLL- Witts Rowell Miller
I/C- Swallow, Casboult, Flanders, Sexton

Emergencies
Fiorini, Lemmens, Andrew, Davies, Budarick, Graham, Burgess, Moyle

Weller still should be recovering from an ACL. Probably Lemmens instead.

In reality, Rosas and Sexton possibly fighting for the same spot. You don’t have Holman in, opting for more firepower with Sexton, Rosas, Jeffery and Hollands rotating through the forward line. Don’t hate that; but don’t think the coaches will go for it as they like high pressure forwards (Holman or newly acquired Berry could be options).

Luko also wants to play forward. But Coaches just need to give him a spot somewhere and tell him to stick to it.

Don't disagree with this by too much, except I think Sexton is now VFL only......and would have any number of players in b4 him on the I/C bench.

As others below mentioned. Holman finished top 10 bnf. He’ll be in the team.

Sexton showed he was hungry in the last round and kicked a bag, I'd certainly give him opportunity to try and earn Rankine's spot to see if he can produce that consistently. If he gets lazy then send him to the VFL

Medium Lockdown: S. Lemmens
Attacking Playmakers: B. Long, J. Farrar

Midfield Roles:

Ruckmen:

I thought your hottest take was selecting collins, Ballard, Graham, Andrew and farrar.

Too top heavy for me.

Mac and Jy are really agile for their size.

Geelong have played with 6 defenders over 190cm for a few years now.

I don’t think it’s that bad with 5 on the bench now.

Yeah, Jy can play tall / small.
I would only have 1 of Mac or Graham personally.

I think the forward lines are trending smaller with your 2 or occsionally 3 big guys.
