Not a fan of joint captains, but we've been that s**t for so long now Clarko and Viney can do what they want.

Just start winning.

Will it be rock, paper, scissors to determine who tossed the coin in the '25 GF?
Alternate each week is what teams usually do with co captains

Is Jy the first indigenous captain we’ve had? Can’t recall if Barry Cable ever captained us.

In the AFL who have been the indigenous skippers.
A.Goodes was one of the co-captains I believe, but their have been too many others.

It’s a great recognition of his work and LMacs of course.

Are there any other examples of it? I can’t really think of any from the last few years? Did Brisbane go down this route or am I tripping

I think Geelong were the first team to go down this route in the 90s when they got to GF with co-captains (Stoneham was appointed in 95 but was injured for the season so they shared it between Ablett, Hocking and Hinkley). St.Kilda got to the GF in 97 with Loewe and Burke. Since then almost all clubs have had a go at it, but only Sydney has got it to work. The most notable failure was Grimes/Trengove at Melbourne.

Polly Farmer from the VFL era. Wanganeen was Port's first. Steven May at the Suns most recently. Can't think of too many others.

This is it. Whatever Clarko and Viney are down with, so am I.
They could bring in the old homeless bloke that yells at everyone near my local woolies to coach the 2’s, and I’d think of it positively. “Oh he’ll demand the respect of the lads. Great get”

ITK???

What part did I get wrong. Aren’t Larkey and bmac now vice captains to JY?
Whenever I hear “alpha” I hear a bitch. Not that you said anything wrong, anyone that believes anyone is an alpha above them selves is deluded. To use the term Alpha in humans they would need to maim and kill and be the top the food chain and be never touched. Its flippantly used by the wrong people with money. You are not an alpha if you are rich and you are not an alpha if you are a leader at a club. Its the wrong ideology, its the incorrect way to walk amongst peers.

Whenever I hear about an 'alpha-type' I just think of some sort of wainker.

FFS, didn’t StKilda rotate 2 new captains each year for a while under Grant Thomas. I thought it was the most ridiculous thing ever. Only benefit was keeping players on the list!

Correct. He didn't want to appoint a captain at all but was told he had to. So he kept changing them every year. He never had co captains though.

Fair enough. Nick, is friends with a few of the boys that i work with. I have met him a few times socially and he always strikes me as someone that others would follow. Not sure what the right terminology is.

He didn't want a captain, nor did he want a ruckman.

Surprised they trained with footballs, to be honest.

lol imagine not being involved the group, not being privy to what happens in the four walls of the footy club, and being completely unfamiliar with what these guys' leadership is like on a daily basis yet still complaining about this decision. beyond bizarre type shit

well done Jyza and Lukey. A great choice of leaders to shepherd our club into a new era. Two outstanding Shinboners

Or having no candidate with irrefutable leadership traits.

No. But no one cares what I think so well done Jy and LMac - hopefully our next premiership captains!

Ya wrong I'd say plenty care man.
GWS have 3 co captains same as Sydney atm

Yeah we should have six then Nostilsdamus

Oh stop it Micky!! Now is not the time for a reason.
Can't wait to see your reaction when Chom needs a 4 week VFL stint before getting a go in the 1's

Ha I know Viney was miffed at the lack of exposure al chomo, choppo chops got in season 2022, so should he not be selected, I trust 'em.

Just not when it comes to naming our Captain(s)

This is spot on. Nobody here knows who leads within the 4 walls and likewise, nobody knows what it is that Jy and Luke do individually that provoked votes for them.

I wanted one captain, but happy to trust the great Clarko & Co on this one.

Watching the announcement video gave some clarity on why the decision for co-captains was made.
Two different characters with different attributes to offer as leaders.
Both give their all for the club on & off the field.

Lmac provides the passion & love for our great club.

Simpkin provides the high standard with his training & preparation.
