Don't underestimate the effect the Frankston line being shut due to Glen Huntly being rebuilt would have. That line I imagine accounts for a significant amount of St Kilda's fan and member base. Combine changing to a bus with the middle of winter, suddenly it's for only the hardest of hard.
It probably should be 30,000 plus but there are a bunch of reasons (not necessarily good ones) why that was always unlikely.

I was on a train at Southern Cross Station and it become jam packed full of saints supporters. I checked the score thinking they must be getting flogged, but nope they were 15 points down with 16 minutes still to go!

Numbers haven’t dropped “sharply” they have just dropped the same that any clubs numbers drop when they lose a few games.

This is their highest crowd v Lions since 2009.
The issue isn't the crowd. It's people overating what they think the crowd should be.

They did this for the Brisbane/Richmond game in 2019 as well. Definitely expecting high 60s or 70k+ could turn up.

There should be. I doubt the AFL cares though.
7 don't want to use the main channel because it would disrupt the news.
Would be remarkable to get even 65k given that 9 out of the 16 metro lines and all V-Line trains will be out of action tomorrow and the MCC has announced the MCG car park will be closed to the public tomorrow. They’re making it hard as possible to just get there.
