A couple interesting games at Marvel and MCG this weekend

St Kilda v Brisbane will be around early 20,000s for a Friday night game.

Collingwood v Adelaide should be around 50,000 for a family friendly 1:10 pm slot on Sunday

Weather permitting, Coll v Adel could get to high 50’s I reckon. Quality match of football - plenty of neutrals will love to watch two offensive game styles going at it.

The way the Pies are going, any game they play will have a large roll up. I would not be surprised with 60,000 either for this one. I went conservative with my guesstimate but Collingwood do not do conservative in 2023! :)

Collingwood vs port Adelaide didn’t even release any level 4 tickets and got 60k. Collingwood vs Adelaide a week out has already sold a fair amount of level 4 tickets. I’m not saying that it will definitely beat the pies vs port crowd but it definitely may.

Collingwood and Crowd could draw close to 60,000 or more. Sunday family friendly slot is almost the best slot these days. Crows fans will go in numbers. It will draw exceptionally well.

Yep.

School Holidays too.
One of only two Melbourne games.
Crows more vic support than port.
Fans craving footy after bye.
No rain forecast.

It just may hit 70K.

It looked good on tv, but why can't s.a crowds crack 40k these days? It's weird as both teams are flying.
Adelaide have had all their home games since gather round (47k) in twilight time slots except Against St.Kilda which was on a Sunday Mother’s Day.
Not great time slots for crowd attendance. We got 44k against Collingwood on basically a Sunday night.

We're overhyping the Collingwood-Adelaide game a bit I think. Much as I'd love it, I can't see it getting to 70k.

It's actually really rare to get a good crowd against the Crows.

These are the only Crows games played outside Adelaide to get to 45k:

By my count there's around 200 games that Adelaide have played at venues that can fit over 40k and they've only achieved it 20 times.

I think to a degree, we need to disregard history. History didn’t predict 61K against the Power. The Crows usually bring a similar rollup to the Eagles. 60K+ has been achieved with all tailwind factors pushing the crowd previously against West Coast. Also, MCC now gives many more ‘non’ members access (provisional / restricted categories) which is seeing MCC reserve more crowded the last year or so. This game will draw neutrals seeking a really compelling contest. It’s in the family friendly slot which in recent years has arguably proven to be almost the best crowd drawing time. If it doesn’t draw 70,000, it likely won’t be too far off.

Crowd predictions for this round:
Geelong vs Melbourne: 22k
Saints vs Brisbane: 22k
Swans vs west coast: 31k
Freo vs Essendon: 39k
Collingwood vs Adelaide: 66k
Gold Coast vs hawks: 7k

Fremantle v Essendon should be bigger than 39,000 right? They’re actually playing well (besides last weekend) and we have good support in WA.

Gold Coast vs hawks will be a lot more then just 7k would be 12-15 in my opinion.

I might not be reading the landscape well, though it looks like ticket sales for Dockers / Bombers a bit slow. No doubt last weeks performance sucking the life out of the more casual attendees?

I agree, but it just has so much going for it.
One of those all stars align matches like the Tigers and Brisbane that drew 76K.

Or the Swans and Hawks which drew 70+

Here’s hoping they come out in big numbers.

Absolutely it will. Freo V Rich drew almost 47K. Yes, Freo had a bad loss to GWS but they do fancy themselves at home. So, ill go with 42-45k
Fremantle have lost two in a row since that game, Dockers entered that Tigers match on a four game winning streak. Essendon will be there in big numbers but it’s the Dockers fans turning up that matters. They’ve lost two in a row including a 13 goal drubbing last week. The crowd will be lower as a result. It has to be.
