Out of interest, what made you think it be more painful?
Would like a source.
The few time I’ve done Ice baths was always told it 1st constricts then 2nd) releases blood flow.

I’d imagine the constriction would be very uncomfortable especially if already has a vasicular constriction condition.

But I’m not a physician so wouldn’t really know

Thats the thing.

He doesn't HAVE a vascular constriction condition.

He has a compression issue. His muscles are pressing on a specific artery.

DarkPhoenix are there any long term effects of living with the condition?

For example if the club knew he had it mid season then told him to push through it until the end of the year, would that present a risk?
The affected artery can narrow, quicker onset of symptoms, increased symptom levels, lower grade exercise will trigger it etc.

But those are long-term effects.
If it was a known issue, and he had received whatever scans were needed they (surgeons, vascular specialists) would have been able to determine if there were any risk factors.

Couldn't tell you the risks of pushing through for 4 months in the AFL environment, could be none, could be as above.

This might explain the ice bath incident.

It would be double painful with that condition probably.

Not saying if the treatment was wrong…but initially the constriction effect I guess would double hurt , but then should release better blood flow?
The ice bath was really just a cover up for bigger issues relating to his lack of professionalism and poor attitude towards senior players and coaches.

He wasn’t dropped for just not having an ice bath, it was one of many things that demonstrated a lack of respect.

Was continually calling in sick.. Wouldn’t do his weight sessions either. Lived off Uber eats which his mum was ordering for him .. the list is endless

Wow. Double knee surgery? Has that ever happened to a 19yo in the game before?

Has a smell of Jesse Smith/Ben Jacobs about it. He'll be perenially injured.

Excellent chance this has been a huge blessing in disguise for us.
I don't necessarily want JHF to be perenially injured, but I really want it for the adoring Port faithful.

But really, I want to see them internally combust as a team and hand us a top 5 pick next season!

The mummy’s boy in for surgery

Nah this is ridiculous.

Sure many on BF will like it, anything hating JHF always does (sure he's a *wit), but to me i wish no injuries on any player, on any level.

People need to grow up. Show some class.

Wishing or happy on injuries to any opponent is pathetic.

It doesn't appear to be that type of condition. Could be wrong but feels like something that likely impacted his recovery and caused him a bit of reduced function due to pain, circulation, etc

I wouldn't be expecting this to be significant or Power would have made this public and pushed to get him for peanuts.

Assumes Port is telling the truth and they didn't find out about it last week when he turned up to Power hq wearing a North singlet

I'm comfortable with wishing gastro on him from mums cooking. But not anything more serious than that.
I hope he gets the sniffles type deal.
But any more than that is a bit much.

Completely agree.

Well said and it's time to move on as JHF didn't want us, so be it. Get over it, he didn't do much anyway.

Under Clarko when we win our next flag, he will regret his decision.

There is more to the story I reckon.
Either port didn't do a medical at all.
Or
He didn't tell them about the injury.
Either way port look like fool's. It's not up to North to provide medical updates on someone we are selling.
Why did port only just find out?
Ignorance or deceit.

Must say I agree with Sweet Left Foot and others that JHF has probably played them with the whole calf pain thing.

Got the commitment, then told them about the condition, now needs surgery. North obviously didn't really care to let them know.

A quick squiz of the interwebs has the success rate of this surgery relieving symptoms at 77% - not ideal.
