A lot of two way running in that group. especially with Jack and Hanners. Not sure our current midfield does that part of the game very well. Hence we seem to lack any pressure on the opposition ball user.

It's hard to compare - I think we think of those players at their peak but half our midfield is yet to reach their peak. I'm not sure which season you're comparing that midfield. Given that it contains ROK can't be later than 2014. Parker is the equivalent of ROK these days. Errol is the new Hanners (and even better if you ask me, I loved Hanners but I LOVE Errol). Chad and Rowy and Mills are less experienced than Macca, Kizza and JPK but could well be as good as them by the time they finish their careers (although I'll be pleasantly surprised if any of them are as good as JPK).

I feel warm and fuzzy looking back on the halcyon days but I don't have a problem with our midfield except that they're still lack some maturity and experience.

Logan isn't an established forward. We carry him in the hope he will be.
I would disagree. Played every game until he got injured and was going along nicely at a tick under 2 goals a game in front of a beaten midfield, and has shown flashes of higher potential.

I'd say he's absolutely established as a top grade key forward. I think to use a term like "carry" is pretty off the mark.

I think Logan has "established himself" as a forward. He is best 22 every week of the year and deserves his spot. However he has not yet become the star we hope he's gonna be. I'm very hopeful he's going to get there. Has done everything right so far and there's a lot to like about him.

To say he's a top grade key forward is absurd. Hawkins, Lynch, Cameron, McDonald you reckon? Surely you're having a lend.

He takes uncontested marks and kicks some goals. Runs around a fair bit. Nice. Yet to provide much contested marking ability in the forward 50 or around the ground. He has some green shoots, for sure though. Maybe he'll soon be at top grade key forward, maybe he won't. Jury is still out IMO.

Logan is the best young key forward in the competition. We should do everything humanly possible to extend his contract.

Weddle just got a rising star nomination this week
He's built like a tank.

Wed want to nail our picks this year.

At the time everyone carried on like Beatson was a genius who got one over the Hawks.

I certainly carried on, but it wasn't congratulatory. I'd have preferred to use our picks.

What about enquiring about Hopper or Taranto?
What would you be prepared to pay draft pick wise for one of them.
Extremely unlikely, but you never know.
Not prepared to pay anywhere near what Richmond would want. And that's pretending they'd even consider it.

Could be wrong but I feel like it's the whole "complete player" thing. That to me is a scarier term at draft time than "light half back flanker."

If a player is already complete at 18, where do they go from there?
No player who is complete at 18 would get drafted.

I know we played hard ball with Papley and said no when he asked to be traded to the Bloos.

But we need to do that more often.

No more Mr Nice Guy and no more letting good players walk for free.

The idea that we can just let good players walk to other clubs and endlessly replace them from our imaginary reservoir of Academy talent needs to stop.

There is no magical reservoir.

Do you mean Bigfooty and Eddie have been lying to me?

Agreed.
Also, no more trading Good players (who we have invested years developing) because we stuffed up our list management. AA would be very useful around about now.

I think Dodoro saved us from ourselves.

Seemed like we were perfectly happy to give Papley to Carlton if Essendon agreed to us paying massive overs for Daniher.

The Dawson negotiation was a positive sign though.

In a similar vein, we should have drafted Dunkley. Absolutely ridiculous that we caved to his old man's threats.

"Oh but he just would have left after 2 years". How does anyone know that? Show me a 19 year old that can hold consistent opinions for 5 minutes let alone 2 years in a professional system.

Was desperate to get to the Dogs then left because he no longer liked the culture.

Dawson would be a top 10 player in the league right now and he'd be our best player by a mile

Pinionett just signed for 4 years

Wonder if they know Tdk is gine down to the cattery
Mcandrew had a decent enough debut and gives me enough confidence that we don't need to chase tdk. Yet to prove himself and big $$. Rather improve kpd, kpf & mid.
