Don't disagree with you at all in terms of depth and future needs.
So who from this draft do you like to fill one or more of these needs?
Murphy will take a while, but hard to pass up if he's still there. I'm not sure we swoop for ZZ, but won't be unhappy. Archer Reid the only KPF around at our mark.

I hope we see something in May because it'll allow us to focus on another position.

Murphy + Cleary + med def Cat A + May (or if we don't rate May, another ruck as Cat A, then Cabor). Have to look for a KPF in the MSD.

or

Reid + Cleary + KPD Cat A + May/Cabor

As posted before, Schoenmaker’s the one I’d like most… and he can arguably play anywhere.
The Gettable video 'Needs mock draft' on the afl website has us taking Hardeman. Who I can't seem to get excited by. He looks fine I guess, certainly rated highly by people who know more about these things than I do, but to me looks like one of those players that plays 120 meaningless games for Essendon.

I really like Schoenmaker for our wing in a Dawson role, (who could also play forward and look good). But the point of difference he offers is especially what sells Schoenmaker to me. Size and strength on the outside not something we currently have....able to float down back, and get it out of there with a booming kick.
I'll be super disappointed if we don't take him unless Wilson somehow falls to us.

Keeping Sam Reid may give us 12 months depth if we can only get either a KPF or a KPD this draft. Agree about Murphy (and probably Archer Reid) having longer development arcs but that's OK.
Not sure another KPD rookie gives us the quality I'd like to see us get that we were chasing with Barrass at least. Bit of a lottery.
I'm a bit entertained by the idea that ZZ might make a forward.

Drafting doesn't have anything to do with next year, so (Sam) Reid isn't a factor for me. It's all about 3 years or so from now.

Is there anyway that we can get Connor O'Sullivan? Please someone tell me there is.......

Nope don’t have the assets to get the GWS pick 7, I wouldn’t want to trade with Geelong anyway after their nonsense over Ratagolea.0

I haven’t seen Hardeman play this year in the WAFL - he’s a blind spot in my knowledge of WA draftees. However, he did captain the WA U18s, so likely to be of strong character.

He does, however, just have a bit of a Dylan Stephens vibe (based solely and unfairly on the fact that he’s a light framed running / winger type) - I’m still a bit scarred by Dylan … hence I have a bit of (ridiculously baseless) trepidation around Hardeman.

As previously posted I don't see how at his "ceiling" he would improve us. That should be our aim. Don't see that he has the best potential around our pick.

Agree on Hardeman. It is unclear what he has to offer.

Suspect the Gettable people were taking the urine, which is not nice for the WA lad.

Eh, AFL media are notoriously bad at getting anything from us in regards to the draft

Also doesn't help Beatson goes completely rogue and we get a player like Vickery who looks less than 50/50 to play a game

Aye. Vickery did show a couple of green shoots before his injury, when played on the wing. Before then I had him at 20/80 to play a game.

Many have him going higher than our pick. The lad surely has talent, so I guess I'd have to reserve judgement if we get him. Does look by his video highlights to have some evasive skills to go with his fair speed. and game nous. Still, seems a big step down from what Wilson would offer in the 'Replacing Lloyd in a couple of years' sweepstakes. But I guess there's no use lusting after an Ionic 5 if all you have is a Corolla budget. :sadv1:

Not as a footballer, but as a human being.
What could you possibly have read on here that lead you to that conclusion?
Did I miss something? Surely you can't mean the one incident where a 17 year old drank some alcohol??

No, where at 15 or so he heavily bullied a disabled boy in his class so much so the boy considered suicide and is still dealing with the effects.

Is a weird one, this draft.

Quite a few players I would be happy to pick up at our pick.

Prefer not to pick up a skinny flanker. Also not buying the hype in Shoenmaker.
