I was reading about what Cornes was saying about Darcy Gardiner - had a good finals series blanketing Curnow and limiting Mihocek to the 1 goal, but only played the 5 games this season. Would anybody be interested in him playing in our defence?
At the back end of 2021 and 2022 when he was uncontracted I suggested we might look at him. He's not that big 192cm and 87kg and turned 28 last month so nowadays he would play as a slightly undersized key.
Smaller than Francis (192/93), Arnold (194/95), Melican (194/99), McCartin (194/99) and Edwards (197/100).
Not to say he's not worth a look but....

Don’t know how determined is our interest in PaddyDow. One constant criticism of him from Bluuuzz fans is his supposed inability to run both ways.

If we pick him up I hope that trait is corrected. I am guessing the bloke he’d replace In best 22is Rowbottom. Paddy would need to show he can run both ways if he is to displace Rowy, who is admittedly under threat from Gus.

Gus replaces Mills next year

A lot of talk about Dow and Jordon. Both decent players but both on the fringe at their current clubs. They would/will improve our depth for sure, especially in the short term, which is definitely a good thing, but I'm not so sure that they will improve our best 22. Grundy will do that for sure, but I'm hoping that Beatson might still have something up his sleeve to further improve our best 22.

A couple boards have posted Melbourne are pushing Oliver out? Swans and Tigers are interested
Why on earth would they push Oliver out? I'm sure we can find him a home in Sydney with Jordan and Grundy.
We could rename the team the Dee's old boys club!

Oliver can only play inside, doesn't kick goals and has a pretty big contract til 2030

Melbourne would have to pay some of his salary because it's not optimal to pay a mid that doesn't finish and isn't your captain big bucks in Sydney

Melbourne probably want that money for a key forward

Well it's probably Buddy money for a guy that Melbourne didn’t notice when he was gone

Only because they have an amazing midfield already. Oliver would address a real weakness, in fact probably the main weakness in the Swans list. I would happily offer this years and next years first rounders for him, though that likely would not be enough.
