Where is said pick coming from? Who are you writing off?

There'd have to be a significant chance that one of Cunners or Marchbank suffer another setback in the next month, and if so I reckon we'd be best served moving them to the inactive list and picking someone up in the MSD.

Narkle would be an option, immediate pressure on the HFF position and a break glass midfield possibility.

Also seen the name Ryan Maric start to pop up. 193cm forward, 8 goals from the first 3 games of the season. Haven't seen any vision of him, so no idea what he's like (someone else might be able to chime in here) but a medium marking forward is certainly something we should be looking for.

I still remember picking up Boyd end everyone was like, who? Seems like a good pick if he can get over his injury, I’d love another one of those.

If I had to pick who I think we should draft at the moment I'd lean towards Daniel Curtin (KPD), Colby McKercher (MID) and Koltyn Tholstrup (FWD) in order.

Harry DeMattia (MID) is another I'd keep my eye on all season too.

Are we including MSD picks in this thread? It’s not too far away and I think we will have a pick
Just going by the trends in our injury list, we should have around 10-12 spots available for the MSD.

But to answer your question, we should absolutely be looking at the state leagues and the overage players in the U18 comp to see who's carving it up. I notice that Ziggy Toledo kicked 6 for the Stingrays, and Kobe Ryan has apparently made a good start at West Adelaide.

Another one who's getting some attention is Jack Buller - 21yo, 199cm 99kg forward in the WAFL. At this stage WCE probably in the box seat.

Early, but WC tossing up between Buller and Ryan, but think both will be gone by our range

I would like us to look at KPD cover as that’s where we are exposed do to injury prone players, we have been lucky Gov has had a run of games, but with he and Marchys history, we only have one back up, I’m not sure weather you go for an overlooked youngster or try and find a Collins or Ryan who were just sitting there doing sweet FA and no one touched them.

My next concern was ruck, if Pitto didn’t get up this week, would either of our two back up rucks have come in? If the answer is no, then I think we need another, we suffer a lot but only playing the one ruck.

It will be interesting what we decide

Any idea if Ethan Phillips has started the season well? He was talked up last year as being in line to be drafted but was overlooked, he was the winner of the VFL young player of the year last year and Missed out.

I know it’s a long shot, but can you remember why or how players like Collins and Ryan were overlooked in their drafts and the years after and then get picked up and win best and fairests and become All Australians.

Position and plays like?

Tall onballer, 190cm, nice left peg, started on the outside, wing, moving into the middle, already elevated to league

Hope we can get an extra first rounder or two...

Would be awesome, getting one of
Duursma
Moir
Watson
Awesome, but unlikely. Jack Delean will be in our likely draft range. Small forward who also plays a bit in the guts. Hits scoreboard, pace, pressure and genuine “hops”.

Plenty of players to watch, I am “following” Will Patton intercepting 3rd tall, athletic, maybe KPD. LOVE Nathan Philactides left footed, top level athlete, with quality disposal. Plays half back and would be a like fir like with Saad in a couple of years.

Naturally will be following mids to with a likely changing of the guard with our depth types.

Patton is very much the Jordan Dawson, Tom Stewart type more so than KPD. Very good player imo.

Delean I think can get away with playing mid at junior levels but would struggle at AFL level. He's a genuine goal sneak specialist more than anything else, can jump but isn't super-fast or strong, a bit like a more athletic Owies with a few more tricks. Positioning and reading the play is his best trait.

On another note Colby McKercher 31 touches again this weekend, that continues his streak of 31, 32, 31, 31. In my opinion could be one of the best inside outside mids since Walsh/Josh Kelly. A smooth mover and has electric speed out of stoppage, good footskills too for an inside mid. Still need to see a bit more of him to make that claim for certain.

The question then comes down to would a club take him in the top 5 with Tassie now on its way? I'd personally be more concerned about someone like Cowan if we managed to get McKercher somehow. They might become good mates and then if one is pursued the other may follow.

With that said he's a prospect who looks very very good and would fit our needs to a tea. Very unlikely to make it past the top 10 though so unlikely for us to get there.
