Just thought of another issue, what happens if someone bids on multiple players tagged tho like stinger did, so even if they give up next year's first they might not have enough to cover both penalities and one owner misses out.

I think dead cap penalties work best.

Yeah draft picks is too convoluted. Another example is if they dont have a 1st next year or the following year.

Cap penalties is cleaner.

Or it could be made even simpler than the players salary, just a 2m fine each time.

But again....it wouldnt be something i do unless someone is repeatedly doing it.

Just stick with the players salary I say, most tags are more than 2m . That's getting them off cheap at 2m.

Becomes the next years first if the owner doesn't match. Gives the owner a choice at least.

As an owner of a player with a franchise tag with a draft round the bidder didn't have a pick for, I'm not sure whether I'd agree with only receiving a first round pick in the draft the following year. Generally, having to wait 12 months to get a pick for a player I lose now means that the value of the pick I receive is diminished. Additionally, what happens to my pick if the new owner then trades out the pick he needs to hand over to me in the next draft?

In my view, a salary cap penalty is the cleanest and most efficient way to go in discouraging people from bidding on tagged players when they don't have the tag price.

The draft value would be about equal tho.....29 5ths = 1 1st

Im a little surprised by your trade anyway. 1.01 and 2.01 for 1.04 and 1.07. a) that you traded put of #1 and b) that you didnt get a little more.

Maybe I had just enough and didn't want more??

Greed and accumulation of unnecessary picks just fosters over hoarding of sub optimal unproductive assets..

DW i understand now. Have performed another trade sending Oliver to him.

You might have accidentally unticked Olivers name, or he accidentally unticked Olivers name during the proposal stage
That could well have been me. I sent the offer through.

shiny_on_top ...

Pass or Match on Mike Evans?

Pass = you receive 2.07

Match = you get Evans for 3 years and the franchise tag cost of 4m is replaced with the winning bid anount of 50k
I think I'll have to match that.
