Teams 2023 Fantasy - Rate My Preseason Team

I like this team.

I'm not a huge fan of the Jack Bowes pick, I'd prefer to find the extra 50k to go to Salem. Will Bowes even be in the cats 22? I like the Petracca and Bailey Smith picks. Smith needs to pull his head in though and prove that he can get through a full season. Holmes is a great player but I'm not sure he is a fantasy player. I don't hate the pick. Sheezel may avg 40. He'll play half forward in the worst team in the league. I'm not sure how often the ball will be down there. I like the Josh Ward pick and Brayshaw has been on a limited pre-season so far so may wan't to factor that in. He'll still play round 1.

Other than Taranto i really like this.

Question on Ward and Holmes is if you can get both to hit - let's say they're each a 40% chance to breakout, by selecting two of them you're giving yourself a 20% chance to hit both of them (by my crappy math). Alternatively, you could put one of them down to a rookie and grab an uber premium and have a much safer side. It's a gamble but you have to consider.

What's Toby McLean's deal, where is he this season and will he get a game?

Bowes was 50-50 but I reckon he'll make quick cash if he plays.
Trac was initially Crae but ownership % swayed me.
Holmes is about to get the chop, which I could use to upgrade Bowes to Dawson.
Sheezel is kinda a place holder. Being a pricey rook helps that also.
Good info on Bray, he'll be a watch now.

Taranto is purely cause I think I've had him the last 5 seasons now haha.

Yeah I see what you mean.
If any I think I'll be sliding Holmes and hang onto Ward.
Less risk is definitely more appealing going into rd 1.

No idea tbh, just saw he was cheap and hoping with Dunks and Hunter gone he can get a good run at it.

Too light in the mids and not happy about playing the R2 roulette again but its a start to work off

Good spotting with T Cole. He's damn cheap. He won't score huge numbers but he's a lock for B22 every week.

I think you can go way lighter in your forward line to beef up your midfield. Lots of rooks who look very lkely in Van Roo, Sheez, Pedlar.etc.

100% RE: the fwds

Yeh, Cole seems like a potential safe 65-70 guy with those useless chips sideways around the backline :p

Hunt is the same price as Cole. I'd imagine we brought him in for run and carry so am leaning toward him over Cole who's essentially our small forward shut down specialist

My very very very very very early team. Rookies on bench are placeholders for the moment. But after a year of playing I feel like I can make a better starting side than last season, and I’m trying for a maximum early points strategy (had way too many starting rookies)

Some of my picks are based on their back end of last season (I had some in my team myself) and on gut feel and new potential roles and comebacks.

Is that side under the Salary cap?

Hey Lads

First Draft for this year, basically anyone under $300k is subject to change depending on Rd1 Teams. This year am happy to pay a little extra for job security as early red dots killed my cash gen last year. will likely change 20x as we get closer to season. Might be a little mid price madness in defence but not sold on the premium defenders aside from doc who is too expensive. Sicily could easily become Bray or Dawson...

Agreed. But if you've got unlimited cap why not pick a top 6 forward even if he doesn't have upside.
We're talking about a FWD who has 112 and 108 seasons to his name. Think he's got enough upside priced at 95 even in our unfriendly system. Considering he's smashing everyone in our time trials you can bank on him playing almost exclusively mid.

Wouldn't pick him up as a MID only but he's a safe bet as a top 6 FWD. Can see him averaging 100 and being far from the worst pick.

But, Richmond is cursed when it comes to Fantasy. Can't get away from that.
