I was talking about finals generally - and no, there shouldn't necessarily be an overarching team follower precedence for AFL members(once again, the clue is in the name, AFL, not "insert your club name here").

Anyway, you should be glad you don't like the system. Gives you an opportunity to complain about it.

Nah can't agree

Also, the fact that they applied the rule to Grand Finals means that yes...even the AFL believes there's a circumstance where Supporter precedence matters.

Given that no two teams have enough AFL Members to fill that section, again, no reason not to install the rule. Because the "neutral footy heads" still get a crack at tickets.

With any luck your missive will end up with Laura Kane by cob today.

I used my AFL member barcode to access the club allocation at 10am. Meant I had to pay $125 to reserve a seat for myself and my daughter, but better than potentially missing out on the AFL member allocation

Disagree - if all finals were done like the GF, there could be a disincentive for many to take up an AFL membership. There are plenty of footy heads that just love going to finals, regardless of who is playing. Anyway, you got your ticket didn't you? Yet to read anyone whining on missing out.
Those footy heads would have their most preferred club as their club support though, no? I understand your point as I’ll no doubt try for tickets tomorrow, but I don’t know that it washes. That said, the counter is fans have other membership options available to them which I fully get, but as a young (at least per waitlist number lol) “footy head” the cost of duplicating memberships just to ensure a prelim or grand final ticket is prohibitive.

Demand exceeds supply for gold memberships, and to me the determinant of tenure is a little unfair although I understand the argument that rusted on loyalists should have first crack at greater benefits. Call me a capitalist pig but given the membership clearly has perceived value to the masses maybe a higher annual price point would be better to determine those that most desire to pay for the privileges the membership entails?

I thought Collingwood didn’t recognise AFL membership come finals allocations? That said, I didn’t try that myself.

Logged on Ticketek at 12:00 waited 23 minutes and all sold out. I’m a Collingwood gold member surely it’s time that the afl wake up and first preference goes to the competing clubs with afl club support. I have never had any issue with getting a grand final ticket. This is the 2nd final I have missed out since 2002. The first was the prelim final and that was due the afl allowing all afl members Gold, silver and bronze first chance of buying a ticket. Due to the uproar the afl made it that only Gold members can purchase prelim final tickets like it use to be
I ended up buying my ticket in the club membership section top level ponsford stand. Spent an extra $40.00 then I should have tho

Yeah you can use your AFL membership barcode in the club membership release
Very good to know, completely counter to what I thought was the case!

I know I’ve not been able to use the AFL membership for H&A away games, could have sworn I’d seen something previously to say also not entitled to for finals but I could be a massive liar 😂

Have a concession ticket as my 15 daughter can not go. Will my wife be able to get in as it is same price as adult concession.
I have my adult ticket as well.
Will they ask to see concession card or pension card?

It's beyond stupid

Collingwood has the most AFL Members with Club support by some margin. I think Carlton are second.

So yes, Colingwood and Melbourne Club Support members wouldn't fill their allotment alone. Ok....so let us have first dibs and THEN open it up to the rest. Just like the Grand Final.
Afl members holds 22,000. Collingwood have 12,500 afl members whilst Melbourne have 2,000! All Collingwood and Melbourne fans would have all got a ticket.

I've never been asked, so reckon it'll be fine. Way too many people for them to care about checking.

I thought the same and asked in the AFL member silver waitlist thread about it because the club said this in the Finals FAQ:

But then I tried my AFL Member barcode for the club member sale and it worked. Yes it's more expensive for me but I'm at least sitting with other Collingwood mates and not by myself

Are we talking gold or all levels?
