Seems like a really simple fix.

1st priority - AFL gold members of competing club support
2nd priority - AFL silver members of competing club support and all other AFL gold members.
3rd - Bronze competing club support and all other silver members.

Split it into hour blocks over release day. Allows gold Collingwood support members the best chance and best seats. Plenty of chances for silver members to get tickets.

I have mates who are Richmond gold and they got tickets for my collingwood mates which is good for them but not really fair on people who pay good money for gold and missed out.

I was able to grab 2 standing rooms about 15 mins ago after waiting in the queue for 40 mins. Nothing else available though

Total afl members I recently saw was 49,500 with mcg capacity of 22,0000 and marvel capacity of 6,000.

Total gold members is capped at 30,000
While I agree your numbers are directionally accurate when I signed up in 2017 I had a gold waitlist number of over 20k. Unless waitlistd have reduced since I don’t see how total members could be fewer than 50k? Unless of course the gold total is currently fewer than the cap, which wouldn’t surprise me…

Anyone know where about the standing areas are and if the view is any good? Never been in standing room before

usually the back of the bays. The one in the ponsford can ge rowdy.
A friend of mine who is coming from QLD has standing room at M15

On ground level, behind the seating bays. I think for finals, they block off the areas and you can only stand in the section your ticket says (M23 etc).
Generally ok viewing, but depends if there are tall people in front of you and you are short.
Areas in the AFL reserve are civil, but as Jen says, Ponsford stand can be a bit rowdy.

Last years Qualifying final they sold me a standing ticket where there was a coffee shop set up. Argued with an idiot for some time who insisted I should stand behind the coffee shop counter, where you couldn't see the game.
Ended up sneaking into an overcrowded other section.
Not a good system.

I stood behind Bay 25 one time (gave my seat up for grandson) and it was great, lots of banter and being short, the guys let me go to the front.

Gee they are giving AFL members an advantage with guest passes - 10! Doesn't seem fair.

In 2007, for the preliminary final, I arrived at the MCG Members around 6.00pm and couldn't get in. The reserve was sold out, for the first time in many years, and it was later disclosed that many in attendance were guests of members.

The MCC changed the rules after that, and strictly limited guest numbers for finals (and other big games).

Moral of the story - dont let members bring lots of guests to finals!

I still don't get how the ticketing system works. I got on about 2 minutes before 12, not even hoping to get anything by 10 past and was quite shocked to see the page come up to get tickets (on desktop). I have never gotten tickets that fast before even for home and away games.

A friend got on about the same time and it was about 20 mins before she got hers.
