Looking more and more likely I'll miss out on going after having apparently secured tickets from a well off friend of a friend(2k each) and then an hour later being told it fell through....

Do you need a ticket for the live site at the AIA Centre or can you just walk up and pay the entry fee?

This is the real major issue. I’ve said it elsewhere but cricket is a parasite on the game. The MCC would be bankrupt if it wasn’t for the AFL and the Collingwoods and Richmonds of the league. Would love it if those two teams said they’ll build a 125k seat stadium and told the MCC to go and get stuffed but I know it ain’t happening.

It did happen.
The League was sick of all its great clubs never playing each other in front of massive crowds as you only played once or twice a season at the MCG.
So by 1970 they built their own 70,000 stadium.
We would play Carlton, Essendon etc out there with crowds of 60,000+.
The League said plans were there to extend it to 100,000….
The plan was 20,000 AFL members and 80,000 fans……
The government promise a train line to the ground but it never happened…
They eventually bulldozed it.

I went to a game there with 84000 and one with 92000, so it obviously housed over 70k. The place was built a shit weather belt area, building a train line out there would've been impossible, traffic getting out was a frickin nightmare and of you lived in the west it was a long bloody day. The whole thing was poorly planned and never had a chance.

Ticketek could always improve and AFL should allow more tickets to supportes.

In saying that, It's embarrassing how many Collingwood supporters have got this wrong from not reading the T&C correctly (standing room) to not having correct funds in accounts for tickets.

It really isn't that difficult.

Even though I live quite close to WAverley now, I grew up in the North and know why it was always a problem to build it so far from the city. Even with good parking and a train line, it’s too far away for a huge portion of the people, remembering especially that the big 4 are from north of th e river.

I secured a ticket with work in a corporate suite but i passed it up as Saturday is her 9th birthday and after going all season I cant not watch the big game with her

Im chancing my arm here i know but if anyone wants to part ways with 2 tickets

How recently were you asked?

Been an AFL member for 27 years (God that makes me sound old) and have never been stopped once.

Last year. AFL person at Gate 7 stopped us. I didn't have ID (just credit card) but have memorised my number, so went to the window and just gave her my details.

Have also been stopped at a normal game but had my card in lanyard.

Maybe I look guilty for something.
