Played 9 SANFL games, averaged 2.2 goals (4 goals x3 times, 3 goals x1, 2 goals x2) and 3.8 tackles. Fits the mould of player we are trying to get and creative inside forward 50. Dont hate the idea like everyone else, but as with all our small forwards, the issue will be soft tissue injuries and trying to keep him on the park.

Probably also means we think Watson is going to be gone by our pick/flight risk and we go tall with our first pick on O'Sullivan (Caddy less likely I would've thought). Only exception is if Sanders is still on the board.
Ken has gold passes for some of his players where Port went into the last final with three injured players.
They should have picked Fanta who played the three previous games in their SANFL team.

What are your thoughts on how much Oraaaaaaaaaaaaazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzioooooooooooooo has left in his tank?

Matt Flynn could be the first (and if not, among the first few) moves on Friday after opening of the FA window:

The AFL free agency period will open on Friday morning, with several players lined up to move clubs on the first day. Unrestricted and restricted free agents alike can move from Friday, with several already nominating their club of choice. Unrestricted free agents can walk to their club of choice once the paperwork is lodged, however restricted free agents can only move if their current club doesn’t match a bit. The free agency window closes on October 13.

See the deals most likely to get done on Friday below.

Matt Flynn

Unrestricted free agent – GWS to West Coast

Flynn has nominated West Coast in a trade request and as an unrestricted free agent, is free to join the Eagles once the paperwork is filed. West Coast has confirmed the nomination but stopped short of declaring it would go through on Friday. Nevertheless, Flynn’s agreement is of major importance to West Coast. Flynn, speaking to SEN WA’s Breakfast on Thursday, suggested he’d been pitched a dual role in the Eagles’ best 22 in sharing the duties with Bailey Williams.

What sort of compensation do we think for Flynn? Maybe a third either this year or next?

He's a Free Agent, so VFL House makes the call on his compo pick based on the salary Eagles are paying him. So, definitely in this year's draft. As per a previous post, and given the general salary a ruck is likely to attract, it's most likely a third round pick next to our original third rounder ... if Eagles are hard-pressed to pay their stipulated 95% he might be overpaid a touch and maybe gets us to end of second round. So, somewhere in 40s to 60s (noting it will get pushed backwards by other FA compos getting added in ahead). I'd guess the latter is more likely, but fingers crossed for better.

Could/ Should we try to trade with Dogs.
We could get in pick 10, trade them 15.
Before draft, trade 10 for GWS 2024r2 r3 r4.
Live trade them 15 for Dogs2024r2,Norths 2024pick20 after Croft has been bid on.
They can do something else with pick 17, trade 17,gws2024r2 for Norths 2024picks19,20.

oh all for Elliott and Orazio. Both would be useful and wont cost much if anything.
We were in big trouble when daniels and Bedford were out injured. Experienced cover is a good thing. First chance Kingsley gets to shape the squad.

Didn’t think much fleeton. If he offloads Haynes too I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a surprise up their sleeves in terms of chasing a player at another club.

Overly complicated trades like that rarely take place

But that screws the dogs…. So I love it

Well, the Clayton Oliver saga seems to have been put to bed with no move ... I guess we'll see if it remains that way when trade week actually arrives!

FWIW, while moves for midfield guys like James Jordan (Demons to Swans), Paddy Dow (Blues to Saints) and Elijah Hollands (Suns to Blues) seem to be stitched up, I still believe that we should have been exploring some move along those lines to improve our team's capability and depth. I'm all for having a quiet-ish trade period (I've been advocating less changeout for years), but just bringing in one good player each year who fills a gap or improves the side either from a capability or depth perspective would keep moving us forward as a team.

p.s. Swans seem to be all-in on remodelling their midfield!

Exactly this ... keep drafting with our high picks and add players like Fantasia, Teakle and Himmel .... I wouldn't mind us going for Duursma either. Those guys are likely solid contributors over a long year of footy and cost bugger all

Bloke that didn’t want to live in Sydney wants to live in Sydney 🤷‍♂️
The difference between a top pick and wanting to just have a career right there.
