I reckon the landscape of list management will need to go earlier to get players in Victoria to go to interstate clubs, not just start talks the year they are out of contract might need to start the year before sowing the seeds

Why can't we just make Elliott a defender? He played there as junior. He has skills, I thought in the one game he did play in defence this year he did pretty good, granted it was only half a game but it wasn't bad
Too slow , he will get turned around way to easily

Not dominant enough overhead in contested situations to make up for it

Redman news in shit because it means Brodie Smith is probably going to stay in the team and help out the opposition for multiple years now.

I suppose Bailey Williams might still be an option if they want to look at a free agent now, he still hasn’t signed even though they said he would. But with basically no viable free agent options (Himmelberg never coming) it’s going to come down to trying to convince contracted players with cash & opportunity to leave in-contract.

There’s not many midfielders that fit the age profile/place in team to temp to chuck the inflated amount of cash to & would also cost high pick(s)?

Zac Bailey (BRI)
Tom Sparrow (MEL)
Max Holmes (GEE)
James Rowbottom (SYD)

Then you have some lower cost midfield options that have struggled for games at their current club;

Dylan Stephens (SYD)
James Jordan (MEL)
Brandon Parfitt (GEE)
Harry Morrison (HAW)
Trent Bianco (COL)

Then youngsters their current clubs will want to desperately hold on to and won’t want to let leave that would maybe cost a highish pick (s);

Sam Flanders (GC)
Elijah Hollands (GC)
Tom Powell (NM)

Then you have Key Position targets

High Cost (Picks & $);
Brennan Cox (FRE)
Harrison Petty (MEL)
Esava Ratugolea (GEE)
Brandon Zerk-Thatcher (ESS)

Medium Cost
Lewis Young (CAR)
Jacob Koschitzke (HAW)

Low Cost
Caleb Graham (GC)
Leek Aleer (GWS)
Kaine Baldwin (ESS)

What about Jarrod Berry as a "pre-agent"?

Seems to have been pushed out to a wing more now they have Dunkley. Can go forward and kick goals and can also play as that defensive minded mid.

Agreed like Bailey has been pushed out by Dunkley & Ashcroft but does he have any weapons though? That’s what I think he’s struggled with at the Lions the last couple of years other than that semi-final on Oliver even when he’s had more mid minutes doesn’t get a lot of ball, is not fast and doesn’t use it expertly well and has been subbed off quite a few times by Fagan.

PlayStation time

Delist: Hamill (to rookie list), Crouch, Hately
Retire: Sloane
Leave via FA: Doedee (Band 3 compo)

Trade NM 2nd and Doedee compo for Flanders and a later pick (Coll 3rd)
Trade Coll 3rd for stop gap KPD like Melican or Tomlinson

Draft:
Adel 1st: Ryley Sanders (Tasmanian midfielder, 185cm) or Darcy Wilson (Vic C wing with mid potential, 185cm)
GC 2nd: Kade De La Rue (Vic C mid/fwd, 184cm) or Koen Sanchez (WA fwd/mid, 176cm)

Like this but one of our lower picks have gotta go towards a ruckman

People keep mentioning one of Flanders or Hollands but could we get both at once? Uncommon to trade multiple players to one team in one deal but GC do need to free up space in the list...
Didnt the Tigers get Taranto and Hopper from GWS in one swoop?

If he’s matured from his draft fiasco throw the absolute sink at Bailey Smith
Or get LDU out of north for sucess

Pretty disappointing we didn't land Redman, would have been a great addition to our team. And the fact that we could have got him as a FA makes it even worse, that is the best way to try and improve your team as you don't need to use any draft picks. I was ok with us over paying him a bit to make it happen as long as we got him via FA.

Got to wonder if our late season form slump had anything to do with his decision, or if he was never really coming anyway and was just using us to try and increase his offer from the Dons.
I don't think any footballer is basing their decision on where to sign for the next 5-6 years on 5-6 weeks of football.

Especially given Essendon are in the same slump.

Nankervis looks like a similar type of player across HB.

But, I saw Redman playing midfield for us. Another Dawson.

LDU is the only young mid that could become a superstar that would be somewhat gettable purely due to the shitshow that is North but if whispers got around he wanted out every Vic club would be lining up around the corner for him

Tom Highmore could also be a stop gap option to consider.

All the Vic clubs need to reject him.

No Vic player is coming to SA unless there is no interest from any Vic club.

That is why we were able to get Ben Keays.

And never in the field when a guy like Taranto changes club.

The latter.
