Who gives a rats about other clubs members. Do they care when they take our revenue and distribute it elsewhere?
Go the Richmond route and rip it up. That’s what they were doing when pies signed this deal and drew huge crowds while we were crap on field

Herald Sun saying we’re going to lose our seats, but the article is paywalled.
Collingwood will have its number of MCG reserved seats at away games reduced by several thousand as part of a new agreement with the MCC.
Rival clubs are angry the Magpies have been handed 15,000 reserved seats for away games as part of a 30-year-old deal which expires this season.

The extra seats and use of two linked-in corporate rooms have provided a significant financial windfall for the Magpies, but a new agreement to kick in next year will see the number reduced by 3000 to 4000 seats.

Rival club sources said the new peace plan means the Magpies would still retain about 11,000 member reserved seats for away games at the MCG in a significant advantage for the club’s members and its coffers.

It is believed Collingwood has known for four years its total number of seats would be stripped back, although it has tried to retain them in talks with stadium officials in recent months.

The 3000 – 4000 seats which Collingwood will lose access to will be divided among the other clubs in a bid to help balance out access to the seats and spread the profits more equally.

Of the 15,000 it will be reduced by 3000-4000 apparently. So it depends where those seats are I guess, I suspect it will be the premium level 2 ones.

Okay.

My Away Seats are in Level 3 and Home Games in Level 1

Hopefully we’ve been able to gain an extra 3-4,000 seats for our home games to offset this loss, because we all know the AFL won’t reduce the amount of money they give to other clubs at our expense.

I’m certain we’d also be able use 3-4K more home seats in the bigger drawing games.

Could be wrong, but I think level 2 might be in danger of being lost.

Apparently some Richmond members have home reserve seats up there (except against us).

You’d think we would fight hardest to keep the seats (highest paying members) and the corporate rooms (from a dollar perspective) on level two and not being dictated by another club

Not sure how the club will determine who losses their away entitlements. Membership type or length of tenure, seating area, ballot?

However they do it some Collingwood fans are going to be annoyed.

It’s a tough one for the club unfortunately.

Whichever members are affected, I hope the club looks after them well.

Fairest way seems to be seating area. That minimises disruption, as any other method results in every reserved seat member being impacted.

If I lose my level 2 seat for away games I will downgrade to a home membership only. I’ve paid a premium for many years based on the promise of keeping my seats in the Ponsford.

Level 2 is gone imo as the home club will want the function rooms etc.

I waiting to see how the club spins this to us.

I don’t know if it’s the fairest way, but it might be the only way given the Tiggers etc want their people to have the SAME seats.
As for the two corporate facilities, if they’re talking about the Harrison room, it’s great as a bar, but crap as a dining facility. The food and value have long been a disgrace.
Which other room are they talking about?

As for the fairest way?
You got to look after the members paying a premium.
You should look after length of tenure of membership as well.
I pity the guy working out the seating, communications and damage control.
The MCC will be concerned about reputation as well.
So it’ll be interesting.

Hmmmmh. I wonder if any sections of the MCC reserve are being discussed as a solution?
I don’t want to sit in the nose bleeds there, but they are often pretty empty.

I cannot see the MCC members wanting to share their reserve with the great unwashed.

I'm a MCC member and I'll share my reserve with you

We have a group of 10 which include multiple generations of family. Moving the seats could make them inaccessible to the elderly and so we would lose a family tradition and club would lose revenue as at least a few could not make it to away games, depending upon where are moved for away games.

If Collingwood is now treated like any other club, the other big clubs can take on shared responsibility for subsidising the growth of the game through (a) AFL variable payments being fair - we currently get nothing. (b) fixture like playing Brisbane at the Gabba at Easter every year.
Home games at Marvel also need to go if members lose MCG away seats as we should at least get all home games at the home ground in our reserved seats.
Friday night home games need to be more fairly distributed .

Make it “fair” for Collingwood overall. Everything on the table.

That would be a good solution - 11 home games at the MCG in my seats.

Its kinda funny how the clubs forgot about the loyalty of members during Covid when we paid for seats we couldn't use.
