Strategy 2023 Midpricers Madness

Ok - I’m ready to rumble!

I’ve ended up with 10 midpricers, below $500K and above Ashcroft’s price
I'm running with 7, although my team changes every 15 minutes at this time of year

Thoughts on Crozier?
Value, but personally I'm not convinced on his JS. We have Gardner to come back too and could easily shuffle a slimmer Alex Keath into that interceptor role.

Bruhn?

I’ve been doing a bit of radical surgery on my team and somehow Bruhn has ended up at F4.

Any cat watchers got some insight?

He might not even play. Big risk at $310k

Good nomination - same price as Fyfe and if his JS and role is secure, likely to be more durable. Former first round pick

LOL - I've gone the opposite and removed Bruhn from my team - even though I have 10 midpricers, he didn't make the cut!

Who is going to replace him? He was Geelong's best player over preseason.

I think sometimes players get overated because they play in a flag. Just because you win the premiership doesn't mean every player in the team is a gun. There is always room for improvement. A guy like Tom Atkins probably struggles to get a game in the midfield for any other team in last years 8 (not saying he is a bad player, just an example).

On what he showed preseason Bruhn should be a lock and could already be the Cats 3rd best mid after Danger and Guthrie plus he is young so has heaps of upside. Bowes had 18 touches in a quarter and a half in the first practice game and looked unreal. Should also comfortably be in the side.

Agreed. Can't see how they recruit him to the club (surely he had other options), he is outstanding in preseason, then they drop him. That makes no sense.

His role might be reduced in the serious stuff. But even so he can still be a good pick.

Bowes :padlock:

Bowes has injury issues though. He must be behind Bruhn ATS. That and he's probably not as good (albeit his flaws won't be as exposed playing for Geelong).
Don't disagree with your thoughts ....my needs are more in DEF .....Bowes over Jones 🤞

Read he was playing golf during the period of the official practice match. I feel he was rested as a precaution so he's 100% good to go round one.

Jones has a settled role, with no JS issues. He should do 65-75 imo, and hopefully has a well timed spike game.

Bowes could be anything from 50-85 for me. I worry he will play enough, and get enough mid time (especially with Bruhn starting so well) to score the extra points he needs over Jones to justify the pick.

Bowes seems more like an alternate to Yeo?

Could be. It would be a ballsy pick to start him though!

That would be pretty harsh.

Bruhn looked like Geelong's best player over the preseason and the most like for like replacement for Selwood. Yes no doubt half their team wasn't trying but that form has to mean something.

He also had the most CBA's out of any mid for them and a consistent role. I'd be shocked if he doesn't play. Locked into my team until I see reason otherwise.

I agree but seeing this yesterday has put the wind up me a bit.

Bowes looks like the one to make one way. He is an outside half back flanker type which they already have and they haven't really replaced Selwood's inside ability at all. Or Mark O'Connor.

But I haven't browsed any Geelong fan opinions to see what they think.

I will anxiously await the teams.
