Suspend the ducker (1week) as well, sends a pretty clear message that it’s not tolerated as well, players will get the message it’s contributing to a possible dangerous outcome itself…Not much you can do about the Sicily tackle. He smashed his opponent’s head into the ground and concussed the player as a result.
As for Cotts there was a mitigating factor. Not for the first time Long ducked his head in an attempt to avoid a tackle. He contributed to the outcome. It drives me spare that players want the head protected and then endanger their well-being by not standing up in a tackle.
when your suspended through a “bye round” is this still considered as you’ve served one of your weeks suspension?
Or does it only count during game weeks?
In other words, will cots be available for the hawks game?
Would prefer no game day reports by the umps. Unnecessarily distracting for all. There’s enough scrutiny these days to deal with incidents post-match.Weiters cleared
Suck Ralphy!

The report was assessed, but the Match Review Officer found "any high contact made was negligible" with no further action taken.

Suck ‘2 weeks’ Ralphy!
Nope not me. Lewis elbows weiters in the back twice. Weiters open hands Lewis to the chest to retaliate and goes to do the same again but Lewis moves behind Meek who gets semi elbowed to the high chest area and takes a dive.Who will put their hand up and admit we'd be looking differently at things if it was the Hawks bloke up for hitting Weits? Come on......
why bother?Who will put their hand up and admit we'd be looking differently at things if it was the Hawks bloke up for hitting Weits? Come on......
The Dockers (7-9) have lost four of their past five matches and will attempt to salvage their season at the MCG on Saturday.
They will do so without Serong - their most influential midfielder this year - after he was cited for a dangerous tackle on Carlton's Adam Cerra in Fremantle's horror 53-point home loss to the Blues on Sunday.
The League's Match Review Officer graded Serong's actions as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact, resulting in a one-match sanction.

I think the issue is that in cases like this the tackled players is choosing to hold on to the ball rather than letting it go and bracing for impact with the ground. Surely that is on them rather than the tacklerThis should get thrown out by the tribunal in about 0.1 of a second.
Even at the time when you see the slow motion replays from different angles, there was no way it was a dangerous tackle. Serong possibly shouldn't have slung him to the ground - which did seem a bit unnecessary - but importantly didn't pin Cez's arms in the tackle.
Just appears to be another case of arse-covering by the MRO/AFL to leave it to the tribunal to adjudicate. The 1 week suspension is now the default setting for anything that even remotely appears to be a 'dangerous tackle'.
