Even Quarters calling it a chooklotto now...

It's all about the result these days. If someone brought a knife out onto the field, but was a little long-sighted and just kept missing his "stab" passes, then he'd still be fine.

If Sean Darcy has a broken cheekbone, then Ben Long may get 10 weeks the way Christian is adjudicating these things:

If they are serious about cleaning the game up they all go.

If they are honest when they talk about duty of care and protecting the head of players they all go.

But if there is a star of the game up for report, the best option is to make a massive deal about some other event to signal the virtue of player welfare while deflecting attention off the big star or brownlow favourite.

Dylan Shiel, Essendon, has been charged with Engaging in Rough Conduct against Curtis Taylor, North Melbourne, during the third quarter of the Round Six match between Essendon and North Melbourne, played at Metricon Stadium on Saturday July 11.

In summary he can accept a two-match sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available evidence, the incident was assessed as Careless Conduct, High Impact and High Contact. The incident was classified as a two-match sanction.

Hmmmm. Mitch Cleary’s tone in that tweet suggests that he thinks Shields was hard done by.

His tone indicates that he is sweating on the scan results for Curtis more in terms of the outcome that it might deliver for the * player’s chance of an appeal over the health of the North player. Nice.

What’s all the sooking about he went past the ball and drove his shoulder into Taylor’s head that was in a vulnerable position.

Whether Taylor plays the game out or not is irrelevant, it’s a suspension every day of the week under the new rules.
