Maybe it's just me but Reid seems to be all about the fend off and not so much about the actual kicking and handballing skills. Is anyone else thinking he's not the Messiah?

Lesson 1: Never go full #1 pick Messiah mode again
Lesson 2: Agree. Rugged yes, but class??

The forgotten man for us is in 2024 is Brayden George, he’s like having another first round selection.

However, he’s another mid sized forward and we’ve already got a few of those; Bull, Sheezus, Ford, Cunners when he’s resting.
Hopefully Bull can make the transition into a full time midfielder and BG fills his spot forward.

We desperately need a mercurial small forward and KP class.

If BMac decides to move on (really hope he doesn’t) we will probably get a mid first round selection or perhaps the pick straight after our first if we have another crap year as ‘compensation’ from the AFL’s secret herbs & spices..

This could be a carbon copy of the compo Melbourne received for James Frawley back in 2014. The GoDees had been shit for ages (just like us), Frawley was an up and coming KPB (just like BMac) and the secret herbs gave them the compo pick straight after the GoDees first which was pick 2 so they got pick 3 as compo (Petracca & Brayshaw).

Hypothetically, if we finish bottom three and end up with picks 3, 4 (Bmac compo) and 12ish (Port) then I hope we have a crack at an established out of contract KPB. Someone mentioned Noah Balta and he would be a great replacement, but we still need more KPB talent.

Something like;

3 - Watson
4 - Curtin
12 - Balta & pick 30ish

With BG coming in and classed as another ‘first rounder’ then that would be a great offseason.

If we ended up at pick 1 then there is no way that I would trade Reid. But I also wouldn't combine our picks to trade up for him.

If we end up with, say, picks 3 and 8 then I would take Caddy (or another KPF) and Watson. If McKay leaves and we get a high compo pick then replace him with Curtin.

Caddy + Watson + Curtin is a nice group.

Then bring in Hunter Clark to play off HBF and the best 22 of the future is looking nice.

I love the talent on this forward group:

HF: Zurhaar/George - Caddy/Comben - Sheezel
FF: Curtis - Larkey - Watson

Reid looks every bit the player Judas was at the same age. The fact that we could walk out with Sheezel/Wardlaw, Reid and whoever we pick with the other first rd pick for him is not too shabby.

Harley looks good but I’m hoping we aren’t last again

If we do come last I’d expect a first round priority pick

Take Harley and caddy then watson with ports first

If things go completely off the rails this year and we once again secure pick 1, then we'd have the best-ever argument for a first-round priority pick so that's 1 and 2 for sure.

Throw in compo for McKay in JG's worst-case scenario would land us with 1, 2, and 3, plus the Port first rounder.

Bard scotts is still making the decisions down at afl house
