He’s light years ahead mate , there’s nobody like him .
Exactly

A small forward this good like watto rarely comes around

The next best small forward in this years or next years draft wouldn’t come anywhere close to him

This is a set and forget type selection in our forward pocket for the next 15 years

I guess we're assuming that the later picks will be eaten up with trades?
Going to be interesting doing the majority of our work on day 1.

I don't think that you pick Curtin to be a McKay replacement. You pick him because he can zone off and matchup on a wide range of opponents in a modern defense and then be Sheezel-like going back the other way.
Exactly, we shouldn’t be looking to replace McKay. That style of footballer is redundant.

Just home from the VFL GF.
I’ve watched Mannagh closely in all finals and he’s miles ahead of some on our list.
Covers the ground, uses it well, can finish, has a knack of popping up in the right spots but why I like him for us is his ability to get on the end of a chain of disposals.

Thing that doesn't get spoken about enough is his hardness. He cracks in and has an impact defensively as well. Avg'd nearly 6 tackles a game this season. After that grand final I will be very very surprised if he doesn't get picked up.

How far ahead is Watson vs the other small forwards available this year? Happy to take a Curtin and Sanders type if the Watson is only 5-10% better than the next small forward.

To put it bluntly, it's a terrible draft for crumbing small forwards. A lot of the other small forwards in this draft are more lead up/mark and kick types that aren't overly speedy (Sanchez, Callinan, Charleson & Gothard). The you have others like Duursma, Delean, Moir, who are most 3rd tall types rather than genuine small forwards.

Lance Collard and Orlando Turner are probably the only two other genuine small forwards in this draft.

Wouldn't say no to throwing a few list spots at the guns of the state leagues.
They'd offer a lot more to our side than keeping spicer, perez or bonnar on the list for another 1-3 years.
We're in desperate need of some backman and pace.
Watch a few being taken in this years draft.

Just out of interest who is a previous set and forget 15yr forward pocket so I can form a comparison. I won't accept Boomer as he was a freak at preparation and hard work (and probably not relevant anyway).

Rookie Sellers for key forward depth, Mannagh for half forward/wing/mid depth and then find the best half back or key defender.

What about the Greek kid from Geelong?

What is his actual position? Winger?

At AFL level I think he'd be best suited to a high half forward role, could play wing, small forward and even have some minutes through the middle. On the 23 list he'd be an upgrade on Spicer, Mahoney, Howe, Turner, Shiels, Tucker, Drury, Taylor, Lazzaro and Harvey.

Was good... sanders looks class above in everything. Watson lively was through midfield a lot. Number 9 off halfback was dominant Archie Roberts think name was. Ollie Murphy very slight... eastern ranges number 1 was good too
I went as well and that's a good summary.

I actually thought Ollie Murphy was close to BOG. He really did a number on Weatherill - primarily through his anticipation and great closing speed. As you say he's thin but a terrific size. Sandy's talls were just more dominant on the day, particularly up forward.

Things just did not fall for the Wizard. Was heavily tagged when he went forward and was thrown around a bit as others have said/moved into the centre action to give the team a lift. That said he missed one set shot he'd normally nail and could have had one or two others. Geez I'd love us to get him!

#1 for Ranges was Caleb Windsor. He is the prototypical modern wing. Fast and breaks the lines well with his carries. Will have heaps of admirers you'd imagine.

So on my count that’s the third game in a row that Watson’s set shot kicking has let him down

Wouldn’t be the only Werribee employee I’d be taking
Barlow as well

Also at the VFL GF I ran into a mate who is involved at Northern knights. His opinion on Caddy is enormous, can't believe he could fall outside the top 5.
The other is Will Green. Said he will take a few years to be AFL ready, but whichever side invests in him won't regret it.
I’m a big Will Green fan. As you say he’ll take a few years but will be worth it. Great leadership potential too

I’d be happy if Will Green or Taylor Goad ended up on our list. I wouldn’t be taking either of them with picks inside the top 30 though.

Curtin signed off on his draft year by helping Claremont to another WAFL Colts premiership. He was a significant presence in the midfield for the first three quarters, helping Claremont dominate in that area, before being dropped back into defense in the fourth to try and help stem the tide with Perth controlling territory. One knock on his performance for the day was his kicking efficiency which was uncharacteristically poor.

Very much Bont like. But its so hard to gauge. I watched bits n pieces of the wafl colts GF and after watching the CTL GF both Sandy and Eastern would belt both the colts GF teams.
