It really is all about will WCE take Reid. If not they would take 2 and 14 for 1. If they want him then they would want more. I have heard some rumours suggesting he doesn't want to go to WA and has told some at WCE that it is his strong preference to stay in Vic. Not sure how much difference that makes these days.

Pretty simple scenario with Reid really:
1. Do we chance it that WCE isn't going to pick Reid?
or
2. Do we really want Reid enough to throw 2 high first rounders because that's what it will cost?

If it was me, l'd value our #2 and future 1st (never trade a future 1st), so if we can manage to get #5 from GC then #3&#5 for Reid.

As much as Curtin presents as the right option given we just lost a KPD, l have not seen a kid for two years that can actually play true mid, forward and back with presences and that's the versatility that we are playing for plus all the Vic metro boys on the list knows him quite well.

This thing about other clubs rating such and such ahead of Daicos in 2021 is purely based on the fact that no-one was ever going to get Daicos cos of F/S just like Ashcroft in 2022 but Reid..this is a best chance in 4 years of sucking at the bottom to get the clearly best talent in the land and l hope we don't live to regret it.

Pair him with Watson, whom get on well together, and we'll have kids that won't want to leave and hopefully, collectively, win a flag as mates from U18 days like Rock, Schwass then Foss, Arch and Stevo in fact that whole 96 team!!

No

Don't see us using this years 19 with WC.

The ONLY team able to extract good value out of it is GC as they will use it as part of the Walter payment. This is when it will be at its peak points value, still probably 20 maybe 21. Using it before the additions of Walter, Read, Rogers, Croft and McCabe actually adds 912 points, thats over 150 points more value than any other club would get.

ONLY for GC will this pick maintain its value so IMO thats where we should be directing it!

Another thing of note, all of those pick become valuable when teams want to trade back into the first round after their acamedy/father sons get absorbed by junk picks earlier on.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see us hold onto them until draft night.

Using the AFL draft points calculator:

(Pk 1) = 3000

(Pk 2) 2,517 + (Pk 14) 1,161 + (2024 Pk 19) 948 = 4626

If WCE are wanting a 'godfather' offer, how is this not exactly that offer? As some have rightly pointed out we'd expect something in return...

WCE can want all they like but unfortunately we have them by the balls.

If they choose to take a risk on Reid at pick 1 then fine but it means giving up Curtin.

If they take Curtin at 1 the fine, we'll take the next two best players of our choosing.

If they want Curtin instead of Reid but don't want to use pick 1, then they have very little choice but to trade with us for one of our picks. We should be doing a fair trade points wise if we are happy to do so but nothing more. We are doing them the favour.

Our PP pick #19 this year is the first pick of night 2.

It will hold heaps of value if we hang onto it.

I really want one of the following combos:

Reid Wiz
Curtain Wiz

Makes us such a stronger team next season

Those overlooking wiz with 3 are delusional. Look at our team this season, we had no true crumbers that kicked goals, had Turner, spice, rhj, Mahony with the ball in space only to turn it over. Not to mention we always get slaughtered by them... We are desperate for a cocky figjam small forward.

He's not exactly a traditional crumber, but George was probably only behind Sheezel as the best natural forward and goal kicker of the 2022 draft, which looks like an all time strong draft 12 months after it.

I love Brayden but I am gun shy with injured youth... Flynn has burnt me this year, I genuinely thought he was going to be a special player. Really hope that Brayden sets me straight

I'm firmly in the don't trade for Reid camp unless it's a decent deal, if it's overs, absolutely no way, we have the best draft hand we've had in over 20 years at the moment, this offeseason could literally build us into a contender if we nail it.

I'd trade 2024 19 & 20 for the Dogs #10 from GC when they get it.

It essentially makes the assistance package pick 10 & Pick 19.

Take 2,3,10,14,19 to the draft.

2) McKercher
3) Curtin
10) Caddy (if we are lucky) / Darcy Wilson / Ollie Murphy
14) Mitch Edwards / James Leake
19) Joel Freijah/Archie Roberts/Luamon Lual/Archer Reid

Spots would become so competitive with that haul which would be great for us as a whole
Brady would get a portrait in every room of Arden st like Kim Jong Un

It's not only that, it plugs so many list holes in one draft.

We address our lack of young KPP depth, we can get outside run to compliment Wardlaw/LDU/Phillips, we can get a small/medium defender, we can get a top young ruck prospect....

Reid isn't worth that list, it would normally take 3-4 drafts to address what we are able to do this offseason.

If it was Jed Walter, it would be a different story, as he's on Reids talent level and is an absolute need, I'd be selling the farm for him..

Yep agree with 2 & 3 being McKercher and Curtain.

I would take Murphy or O'Sullivan over Caddy at 10 - Im big on George playing that medium forward next year.

Who cares. It's virtually no difference. End of First Round/ Start of Second Round, same thing.
l'm talking about the wording..Everyone keeps saying that its 2 X future firsts.... Why say its a Future first when its not? l am referencing that fact that they are saying that its "2 x future firsts"..It is end of future firsts or start of future 2nds...

I like the picks and diversity of talent you've nominated a lot.

The biggest problem I see is we won't be competitive next year unless we have adequate key defender stocks, and if we aren't competitive next year, we'll lose good players.

Corr, Comben, Bonar and maybe Ethan Phillips isn't adequate.

Ideally, we'd be able to do something like take on the Nick Haynes contract, and in doing so, get an F2 from GWS that we can use on someone like Dougal Howard. Meaning we can use all the picks you've highlighted at the draft.

But if we can't do that, I think we'd need to keep one of the PPs to sort out that massive deficiency.

No doubt the assistance package has been formulated to assist West Coast and Gold Coast.

AFL know Reid is a flight risk and has already voiced his preference. We then had to endure Will Schofield's fat mouth...its a serious concern.

Wish we had the balls to not want to trade for Reid. My gut feel is WC wont pick him.

Which other teams are serious about paying the Kings ransom for Reid? Melbourne?
