1: Reid
2: Watson
3: Curtin

Can’t see us finishing out of bottom 3 to miss one of them but if we do I’m taking Nate Caddy

Eagles should be trying to get Curtin with a slight trade down deal
Caddy should be available at Ports pick

Yes, but we are talking about WCE trading back for Curtain.

If WCE want Curtain and North are taking him at pick 2 then WC have two options. Take him with pick 1 or trade with North.
What gives me hope is the number of north people at wce at least gives us a chance for clear communication between clubs to get what we both want. I have no doubt Brady’s relationship with Jase Mcartney helped the n last years draft and am hopeful with Simmo, Pratt, and Drew over there not to mention the time Brady spent there we can negotiate what is mutually beneficial for both clubs.

I was the North recruiter for the Bigfooty Trial Phantom Draft. See below North’s picks. If you are interested to see what players are available there are some really good write ups in that thread.

We ended up with:
3: Nick Watson - Small Fwd/mid
15: Connor O’Sullivan - Key defender
40: Logan Morris - Key forward
53: Lance Collard - Half forward/Wing
54: Riley Weatherill - Key forward

I would deadset riot if that happened.

There's absolutely no way we'd be in any conversations with WC regarding their #1 should they end up with it.

Dream draft from where we stand right now would be Nick Watson + Darcy Wilson, but I'm probably hoping for a miracle with Wilson due to how good of a fit he'd be.
What if we have 2 & 3, due to compo for McKay?

We can get Watson and trade up for Reid. Or would you take Wilson at pick 3?

Ive said it many times on here, whilst Reid may be the best player, he's not the best fit for us.

He's versatile for sure, but his future lies in the center square, we can't really afford to invest another top pick in another of center square mid.

Watson suits us far more, we could deploy him in a variety of roles.

I have no interest in trading up for Reid. We shouldn't be in that discussion at all.

Mitch Edwards at 3
Do you suspect that Edwards is/will be on the radar of North in terms of the first few choices?

Or is this a personal preference?

The guy seems like he will grow into a monster, moves well and has good skills. Does he have the versatility to play multiple roles?

Personal preference due to how highly I rate Edwards which is certainly not consensus!

It seems my gut feeling is apparently pretty good regarding what our club might be thinking at certain picks, and I can't see us taking Edwards. If I'm backing in my gut, I think we're an absolute lock to take Nick Watson provided we don't finish last and if we had pick 3 right now in addition to 2, I reckon it'd be Archer Reid or Dan Curtin.

For the Port Adelaide pick, I reckon we'd be looking at guys like Darcy Wilson, Freijah and Hastie.

Do you rate Moor Souup? He came in with big wraps this year, but interesting he hasn't broken through the Glenelg setup?

Do you see Watson's height as being an issue at all as he transitions to AFL - particularly in spurts through the midfield?

Assuming you mean Moir? I've not been anywhere near as high on him as others. I'd consider him in the 2nd round onwards.

In this scenario we would already be getting Watson

A good riot or a bad riot?

What would you change?

Unless they are head and shoulders above the next player, I want us to draft power runners. If you want to build a competitive team, we need at least 3-4 runners in the next off season. We have built a blue chip (at least in draft capital) midfield but have not supported them with the requisite runners to make the most of their inside work. We also do not create run off HB or have enough crumbing power forward.

You want to start winning games, build on strength. McKay, Logue and Corr in defence, Larkey, Comben and CCJ will be competitive enough. Add a body or two in the off season for depth but what is setting teams apart this year (and last) is running power and we need a pretty sharp boost.
