If we got pick 3 compo for McKay then drafting Wizard Watson and Caddy would really round out our forward group.

Tall - Larkey, Comben, CCJ, Caddy
Mid - Zurhaar, Curtis, Stevo, George
Small - Watson, Hansen Jr, Harvey, Drury

Thats 12 deep of a pretty solid mix of players for the AFL and VFL sides.

We then have Sheezel, Thomas and Ford as options, and even Simpkin might end up forward more often. And Goldy/Xerri moving down from ruck.

Agree the forward line looks killer, but the defence would be even more of a mess than it is now.

We'd still need to find ready-to-go replacements for Mckay and Ziebell too.

Maybe Tomlinson with a third rounder and Port's 1st for Bergman/Ash/Clark?

Or Dylan Williams as a UFA?

I don't think we need Wato. First 2 picks Caddy, then Delean. I'm happy with Sheez, Hansen Jnr, Spicer, Drury, & Harvey as our small fwds.

That's putting a lot of faith in 4 young players with no valid claims of having proven themselves as small forwards at the top level. And Sheezel is not a dedicated small forward by any traditional definition.

Sure, we could also pursue salary dumps or use our future first to trade into this draft for O'Sullivan or Curtin. Or we might get priority picks.

There's a few options.

Go after DGB or a cheap rejuvenation project.

yep i dont disagree i just think we have enough sub 178cm players so why get another. Also I agree sheez isnt a small fwd but he does play like one.

Can't trade ports first back to them for Bergman.. you can't return picks

Not a BOG performance by any means, but the blueprint is there.

Some may wonder why a clip of contested work with mixed results is leading to a guy being in the discussion for pick #2, but a guy with his pace and height doing that is pretty special.

Once you add in the context of some of the X-factor that he has shown on the outside in other games, I think he starts to look like a pretty special player. The type of player that even his doubters wouldn't be shocked if he ends up being the best player from this draft. If he keeps on improving he'll be playing for us next year.

It was certainly the most impressive game I've seen from him. Bumped him up a little bit for me but I want to see more of the same.

Partly because of JFHF but also because eggs and baskets, I'd be against loading up for pick #1 just to get Reid. But my draftee knowledge is superficial at best.

Souup roos_fanatic08 or Sphynx would any of you even contemplate shedding multiple first round picks just to move to the coveted #1 position for Reid?

Depends what 'multiple first round picks' means.

If we end up with 2 first rounders that net us Reid + Watson then I'd be happy. If it means missing out on Watson then I'm not keen on it.

I think we’d need to have a serious look at edwards, on the basis that it’s a sound investment in future returns from one of the WA clubs if he is to go home.

Look at what Jackson has netted Melbourne, plus if WCE can’t pull off a trade for English they would come hard

It's numbered the picks based on where clubs finished last year. That's why we've got pick 1, and Port's pick that they traded to us is pick 8 because they finished 11th. They won't finish 11th.
Thanks, the mystery is revealed.

Still, 2 and ~17 plus one other sweetener (whatever it is) will probably stack up against most other offers. I can't see clubs putting three first rounders on the table with Tassie around the corner.

Don't mind the logic but the player's fit and value to us as a long term prospect should come first and foremost.

Maybe I'm the only one... but what am I missing with Harley Reid?

Kicking depth, class - don't really see much evidence of them. Haven't watched too much yet to be fair.

He's strong and tough amongst his peers but can't see the the metres gained of a Dangerfield, Martin ..or JFHF.. in his game.

Most probably wrong just an initial observation.

From highlights I see the same, it’s more Hodge less Judd.
