Very much agreed. Cal Twomey's rankings are the best and that's because he gets his information closest to the source. Normally about 16.5/20 for the top 20. ESPN does not have that strike rate.
Twomey talks to player agents and gets inside information on where players will be taken. He doesn't really do power rankings. Guys like knightmare spend a lot of time actually watching players and have different opinions on where they should go rather than what clubs think they will go at. It's all opinions in the end

I think we’ll go with the two ruck system for as long as we have rucks that can impact up forward. And given Steene’s develop I don’t think we’ll run out anytime soon.
Yeah, I've been impressed with Steene's development up forward in his first year. For a ruck thats never played forward before. he's learning very well. Good signs.

Fly would need to work one-on-one with him to prevent a culture killer from growing. Not saying that he couldn’t do it but it will be a task and a half. Jacqui would be a good start for him but he has to want it enough. She’s very good but she’s not a magic fairy.

I feel like Ginni’s actions had limited consequences on others, too.
I wish I was your age again where everything was black and white…

Cal’s personal rankings can be pretty pus sometimes too, he had Callum Brown inside the first round at one point iirc. His phantoms are usually the closest to correct though due to those aforementioned sources.

I had C Edwards as the only one. Which were you surprised by?

As I’m investing more time into it there’s a few prospects to get around in our pick range. All of Cleary, Goad, C Edwards, Delean and De Mattia feel like Collingwood picks.
You don’t reckon Stephens and Schoenmaker at 13/14 are a bit strange? Stephens in particular I find odd given most phantoms/rankings have him anywhere in the 25-50 range.

Additionally I wonder if the supposed move to 5 interchanges players will prolong this structure. Even this year the discussion revolved around whether taking the extra ruck was worth sacrificing a spot in the 22 which a runner or more "effective" type player could take, or was it a viable option to run a Cox/DC as sub etc etc.

Having the permanent 5 on the pine probably allows us the freedom to easily select that second ruck, and I anticipate more clubs will go with the same plan.

Nah his phantom form guide is his own rankings. That’s why they’re usually significantly different from his actual phantom drafts.

Cal has been doing power rankings monthly for years. Like last month:

He also had nick at #1 every month in 2021, even though thats not where he got selected, its where he rated him.

Not really, but I’m buying what you’re selling. IMO, Stephens is the most polarising prospect in the draft and I asked Pie4life about Schoenmaker mid year so he’s been on my radar for a while. I also don’t mind when people go against the group think. For instance he also had Cleary higher than most and his game looks AFL ready.

I realise you probably weren’t suggesting they were like this, but neither Stephens or Schoenmaker screams a Knightmare love child like Lukosious, Callow or Sokol. That said Phillipou was one I could get behind!

He’s the one I’ve landed on for our first pick. Reckon North will sneak in before us though.
Just finished reading it. Sounds like he has had a year where he made some mistakes, but has grown and matured from those. Is ready to move away and start his journey at an afl club.
Sometimes its not about learning on the field, but off it as well.

The earlier we recruit rucks the more we can develop them to fit into our two ruck system.
Or we could let another club do it for us and attack the surplus like we did with Darcy Cameron. There’s usually a Jordan Sweet or another young player on the cheap available. The merry-go-round never fails to produce. Rucks are generally abundant in the VFL, too. Would rather invest in a forward-ruck. Anyway, it’s not about the winning the hitout but the clearance.

Oh god no, nobody came close to KM with his batshit crazy trade suggestions for Lukosious.

Don’t forget Casey Voss in the first round. Poor bloke is still waiting to get drafted 😂

Glad we didn’t give up 10 first rounders for him. He’s good, but KM should have dialed it back just a touch. 😂
Yeah I get he loved him, but you can’t trade out star talent like that for untried kids. He was legit wanting to become an AFL recruiter, and I reckon if any clubs saw the kind of stuff he posted about some of those favourites of his they’d have put a line through his name as a potential scout. There’s backing your opinion, and I respect that he did that, and then there’s going batshit crazy. I’m almost certain at one point he said he’d give up Moore and Jordy for Lukosious. Before he’d even played a game of AFL. Mental stuff.
