How didn't richmond win, had a s**t ton of inside 50 but kept butchering it.
Well, its clear despite their statements - Carlton have learnt jack about how to hold onto a lead at the close of a game. Kicking to a 5 to 1 is the most stupid thing I've ever seen.

Where’s the few on here that we’re bowing down to Richmond

As usual overrated as anything and are lucky they got half the points

Will need Dusty to be back to 5 years ago Dusty

5 years ago Dusty was only 5 years ago Dusty because 5 years ago Dusty had very good midfielders around him. Prestia/Lambert/Edwards were such a well-oiled machine, and now only one of them remains, and whilst still very good, he's been joined by an absolute hack-kicker in Taranto, an ill-disciplined front-runner in Hopper, and a Budget Dusty in Bolton. It's just not the same kind of group that will allow an elite talent like Dusty to really shine.

Not saying they can't still be a good midfield, but they're gonna have to establish a different kind of dynamic that suits those players, and try and make that a successful one.

That is why I kept saying I don’t get the fuss about them their mids are old, their forwards are getting on (Reiwoldt especially), and they have injury prone key players (Prestia and Grimes).

Be lucky to make the 8

I'm very happy with the outcome of that game. Hopefully, despite the way they're talking it up, both teams confidence is undermined by that result.

However, I don't get all the whinging about the footy. It's round 1! It was a close, hard-fought, but not very polished game.

Does make me feel more comfortable about all the talk about how we supposedly haven't improved over the off-season like other teams.

Media still need clicks on the off-season. Guess talking about Sydney being better than last year by simply being a year more mature without significant trades wont generate many clicks.

Thought Carlton would be the better side but fitting end to an average game.

I reckon Collingwood might pinch it against Geelong tomorrow though.

Carlton ballsing it up yet again. What's changed?

A goal up with 2 minutes to go and most good teams kill the game. Take time off the clock. What do Carlton do? Take the game on. They had the ball in their d50 with players in acres of space yet they chose to take the game on. Fools.

Then Lynch outmarks 3 players, with a 4th Carlton defender standing and staring at him.

Just outrageously bad from Carlton. Richmond will be happy they got away with 2 points.

Not only did they take the game on, but they did so without the numbers to actually make it worthwhile.

I want to give them leniency and say they were probably gassed from several minutes of straight defending, so then when the quick release was on, they couldn't get down the other end in time to capitalise on their forward entry.

But then I remember all of the times they did the exact same thing last year. Just a lack of work-rate to push up and present to try and lock the ball away in their forward half when it was there. Clearly a recurring issue for their team.

They really need to work on their gut-running both ways. Having arguably their best player in this regard on the bench at the time probably didn't help.
