Not many bonafide top QBs tho. Theres usually only one a draft that turns out a long termer. A lot of developmental ones that often dont amount to anything, and a number of average game manager types that after 4 years you end up moving on from anyway

Imagine what the league would look like if the the owners collectively said (on the quiet) they would never offer a QB over 20M a year unless they were established elite.

Games would be awesome as those teams without elite QBs could invest all those savings into elite talent at other positions and we would see more dynamic games.

Just about every team who wins a championship drafts their QB.

Niners, Jets, Patriots, Bears from the previous draft probably dont win a SB. Only Jaguars will with Lawrence.

And last years draft, maybe Pickett for the Steelers is bonafide enough, maybe not.

Giants wont win from Jones. Packers maybe dont win from Love. Eagles possibly win from Hurts, tho got there.

Etc going back thru the drafts.

Is there even enough elite talent on defense to spread across 32 teams? I think theres a shortage at every position n the NFL

Yeah and imagine a team that dropped 25M a year on 7 all pro defenders.

Bosa (either of them), Vita Vea, Reddick, Parsons or Warner, Alexander, Jackson and Byard. You could pick the other starters on an open mike night and still be all world.

And for every Stafford and Brady there are 20x Jimmy G's, Cousins and Carr's who dont as well. No different to missing on the draft. If the goal is to win a championship you draft a QB. If youre satisfied with being mid you trade or sign a vet.

Ravens been kinda doing that, dream teaming the D and it still hasnt got them there.

Thing is too, there are so many more moving parts on D you have to acquire to have an elite D whereas you only need an elite QB to achieve an offense.

But again theres the rub, you have to be the one who gets the bonafide one.

This draft its probably Stroud the bonafide one, Young the gane manager type who you moveon from after four years, and all the others developmental ones that tease and dont amount to anything.

Problem with a dream team D is games are always going to be close, so it wont take much to blow it....one insane play, one flag one mistake and you lose.

Starting to see a few people mention that Carr could sign with Carolina (luckily none of the big names like a Rapoport or Scheffer, still, it's enough to make me worry given Tepper's history) . Dont you ******* dare do it to me again.
According to Lombardi on GM Shuffle the Panthers are full of Jesus freaks so Carr would fit right in.

Lombardi also said Darnold would work out for us and it was a good trade at the time, don't listen to anything that idiot says.

Seriously underating Purdy...

Maybe so, but Im burnt out of getting QBs from other teams. Want us to develop our own. Carr wont ever win you a championship coz he will take up 35-40m of your cap.

It is a crazy league where 35m is the starting point for someone like Derek.

The cap is going to be upwards of $300 within 3-4 years so the long term average numbers (with plenty of ours for the teams) won't end up being a big burden.

That'll play well in NY 😂

Didnt think of that, haha, should be included in his opening press conference once traded to the Jets, tell everyone their eyes deceive them.

He didn't say he would work out just that he can see a reason why the Panthers and Carr might be drawn to each other.

Hope you guys take him if only cos it means we won't.

Would be the weirdest Jets opening presser since....Gase and his pinball eyes 👀
