No idea about the other options to be honest, but as you allude to the main question is the opportunity cost of that list spot. Either way and generally speaking if someone is going poorly on the track it makes zero sense to dance around it. Let's hope he can cop on at some stage. Not suggesting it’s a great strategy just saying he is better and costs us bigger all. The question is what we’re the other options?
Totally agree, Jones and Dmac in particular repeatedly sidelined is frustrating. The concern going into the season is the number of blokes on reduced workloads. Jones again injured. Coff hamstring setback. Sounds like Steele might have a niggle. Campbell injury sounds fairly serious. Quite a few others just getting back into it eg DMac, Gresh, Billings, Battle.
We need some luck over the next 4-8 weeks otherwise we will be starting the season behind the 8-ball.
Don’t stress..still a couple of months until round 1.While it’s far from ideal that our numbers on the track are so low at the mo, this is still a very highly competitive team we could field in R1, based just on those who are reportedly in the main group, as of last week.
B: Wilkie Howard Paton
HB: Sinclair Battle Wang
C: Hill Crouch Mackenzie
HF: Wood Sharman Higgins
F: Butler Membrey Hayes
R: Marshall Steele Gresham
I: Clark Ross Windy Webster Billings Bytel Owens Pou
Injured: King, Hotton, Jones, Coffield, Campbell, Keeler.
Marking targets up forward and backup rucking the only obvious potential major weakness there, otherwise we’re batting deep all the way to 23 with those who are clearly AFL standard, and I still didn’t find room for Bytel, Mitch, or Pou, who would all presumably be well in calculation for a spot. Along with others like Byrnes, Cordy, Highmore, Van Es, Connolly.
If we get hit with more injuries in the meantime we could be in strife though, depending on where they play.
The worry is they really need to be ready before round one. Our depth is ordinary as it is and he named maybe 2 or 3 players who may not play. Leaves little depth if they don’t play.Don’t stress..still a couple of months until round 1.
Injuries are a fact of life…that’s why quality depth is vital!I foresee us getting a few more shite injuries to key players, being forced to play a bunch of promising but green players who overperform on expectations snagging wins where they shouldn't and then setting up well when our big guns come back to find some now experienced depth have maintained a winning record for them.
We don't have quality depth, hence why the amount of injuries or players having interrupted pre seasons is worrying.Injuries are a fact of life…that’s why quality depth is vital!
god wouldn't that be a way to get the general public around us. have 4 of our youngest players podiuming the rising star
I’m on the Mitchito train!Windy 18 games and Nasiah 17 games each. So both are not eligible for the Rising Star in 2023.
Owens on 7 games is.
To be eligible for nomination, the player must be under the age of 21 at 1 January that year, and have played ten or fewer AFL games as of the start of the season.
I know as fact they are really worried about the ruck stocks.
Really well, won the 3k time trial, leads every repeat 400 at training and thinks that the rest of the list is unfit and wouldn't last 5 seconds under Bevo's regime.Hey guys just wondering how Cordy is going?
He can’t wait until mad Monday.Hey guys just wondering how Cordy is going?
Goal a game and 20 possessions I reckon. 5+ tackles tooI’m on the Mitchito train!
No wonder as at present:
- Marshall is our one and only ruck option that you would want playing No 1 ruck each week.
- Campbell is a capable back up, but you would not want him No1 more than few games.
- Heath is too raw, and physically is also not fit enough.
- Keeler has talent, but is not a No1 ruck this year (ultimately appears to be a forward ruck.
- Anyone else who might ruck, will be doing so only as a chop-out only. ie Hayes, Battle etc Certainly do not want htem rucking for most of a game.
We are super reliant on Marshall this year. If he misses for a more than a few games we will be in trouble.
However for me it is all about 2024 on. If we do well in 2023 I will take than as a bonus.
Our midfield now bats deeper, but ruck, key forwards and key backs we are still very thin in.
Hey guys just wondering how Cordy is going?
I think Campbell is a very adequate backup and we'd actually probably make do with him for a whole year if we needed to.No wonder as at present:

There's a good chance if he can stake a claim while Max is out. I can see him rotating with Steele.I’m on the Mitchito train!
