Who was the yanker in question ?
The story as has been told was that there was no match sim planned for the day.

Towards the end of the session one of the assistants called for it.

Dougal matched up on king.

King was apparently clinking everything and kicking straight. Dougal was made to look out of his depth. Getting frustrated etc.

Last bit of Match sim. Ball goes forward to king. Dougal grabs and yanks the arm. Shoulder pops.

Sounded unnecessary and I had no reason to doubt the poster either.

Last time Ross was here the same thing happened.

Yeah it’s s**t.

But it highlights what was wrong prior. I’d rather go in with 28 blokes to choose from who can do what’s required instead of looking good for 3/4 and falling apart when it matters.
Not sure fitness was an issue early last year. Not blaming training though. These things can be just bad luck. 2 years ago we hardly had an injury.

I was geared up for to sneak into 7-8th this season like Mowman , but we just can’t/won’t do it with these injuries. The worst thing that can happen is we finish in that 9-12 zone again 🤮
Not really as long as we can see a huge improvement in structure and young kids improving. Richmond had that area of tge ladder down pat them they became the best structured side in the afl.

I was a bit of a ball spinner and it does take your mind off the kick because you are concentrating on slowing breathing and composing yourself at the same time. It's not functional but when you have a good or a bad day often it's more about finding yourself in the zone more than pure technique. I can see both sides but we just need him to find something that works.
I was a pretty accurate kick. I used to poke at the ball, like i was trying to start a kick to a blonde 5 meters beyond the goal line. I had coaches try to change my kicking saying "don't poke at it", "kick through the ball" etc. The more heavily "coached" parts of my playing days were my least accurate. So i just went back to doing what felt best and my accuracy came back.

I never understood the major difficulty in goal kicking. AFL level players could do kick to kick to a stationary team mate 40 meters away with 90% accuracy (as in they wouldn't need to move more than a step or two to mark the ball). That would be a 3 step run up at most and a stabbing kicking technique. Pick a bloke/sheila in the crowd and do the exact same thing. We really over think it for those kicks 40 meters or under.

I have my own secret group I give reports to. I see nothing wrong with but I’m sick of only pming myself and that idiot never says than you. If anyone wants join I can send you a report on Ormond.
Is Fischer McAsey going to pull on the boots for the brown and blue this season ?

The other term was intensity?

King shoulder at training.
Hayes foot at training.
Ross calf training.
McKenzie calf training.
Coffield hamstring then calf training.
Membrey knee training.
Keeler knee training.
Jones achillies training.
Allison foot training.
McLennan (NGA) back training.

The only non training injuries are -
Billings broken leg practice match.
Heath ankle practice match.
Windhager hand practice match.
Hotton back possibly injured before he joined the club.

Stavro we are already making excuses - blaming the AFL for their scheduled breaks. When it is blatant as the nose on your face that the increased training workload & intensity has gone way too far too quickly for this group.
Huge stretch to blame training on collision injuries. King was at training but no idea how you stop that happening. Just bad luck. Coffield coming off a knee. Very common for things like that to happen. Dmac has had a calf for 9 months now. Obviously chronic. Even some of the others are injury prone. Swings and roundabouts.

We haven’t worked this hard in preseason since the lead up to 2020
Seems similar to me but I’ve always been you see what you want to see person. Just out interest why would that year be different to 2021 if it worked in 2020. And didn’t that season get put back and you could only work in small groups. Be hard to work hard in small groups.

Come on now... don't hold back. It's time to get off the fence about Cooper Sharman.

Is he the goods, Cairnsman?
ok putting on my best politician hat...

Coops is a natural forward with great running patterns and can find space, he's a great mark and is a beautiful kick for goal.

Caminiti will get selected ahead of him though.

I’ve posted about it numerous times.

2019 leading into 2020.

We had double sessions. Drones capturing all the footage. A lot of Gameplan match sim stuff. Etc.

20 into 21 we went into this player empowerment stuff and it went too shit. Not enough work done. No drones capturing the match sim. Not enough work done on fitness.

21 into 22 we went hard on the general running under Walsh. Not enough work done on the match sim tactical stuff (boot it to king).

It was a pet peeve of Stewart 66. He used to pm me about how frustrating the change was.

This summer. We have had drones. Double triple session stuff. Weight and running programs ramped up. A lot for competitive match sim scenarios.

Players needed to be fitter and stronger then anytime under Ratts.

Exactly and it happened the first year he was at Fremantle also!

That is exactly why he should have known to make the step ups incrementally and not like they have.

I not against the change, obviously it had to occur. Its just the management of the increases that raises questions?
