5:15pm Saturday locked in.

Seems a weird time...what's the logic there ?

Means game will play through sunset which can lead to shadows and the sun getting in the players eyes. Game goes through dinner time. Seems annoying.

Prob good for us though that it's sat not fri cause we look pretty banged up. Earlier timeslot may make it easier for us to recover for the GF if we make it that a standard 7:25pm start.

Only other change I'd make is to find someone to take Marchbank's spot - dependent on match-ups. Reckon that for every mark he took, he dropped an absolute soda as well. Also...yet another turnover caused by him back-pedalling away from the ball instead of coming forward to meet it, allowing an opposition intercept. Did some good work too, for sure, but Brisbane's smalls read the ball incredibly well, and feast on anything that hits the deck - I'd like to see him come out for someone with a bit more composure and intent.

Lack of VFL footy is hurting us here, we need another runner behind the ball but the only realistic option (Boyd) has no way to stake his claim

We can fly back to Melbourne that night, game doesn't clash with the Broncos game, but it's as close to primetime as possible.

Unpopular but I want to see Kennedy retained. Bull of a player and kept Lever honest.
Believe Vossy would have a lot of time for Kennedy, honest hard working bull who can be relied upon to play a role.

Every chance imo that Matty keeps his spot. He will be better for the run and adds toughness and marking power to our forward line.

Brisbane airport has a curfew which means a team can't get back home if its a night game. Would be a huge disadvantage were we to win and have to spend another night up there whilst the other grand final team is tucked up at home.

Can't really play a day game. Imagine the disadvantage if it was a stinking hot humid day.

Best outcome all round. We even got a nice warm evening lead in game last night and an 8 day break.

Who else comes out for martin? Kennedy played better, Cunners was very quiet but didnt turn it over, Fog may keep his spot but he had a shocker, skills and decision making were horrific. Match committee have a lot to think about this week
Kennedy didn’t play better whatsoever it took him 3 quarters to figure out lever wasn’t going with him on his dummy leads, he spoilt Carlton forwards and generally got lost until they plonked him as the deepest guy who invariably gets on the end of one or two by virtue of being the deep guy.

Fog was far better and his stints around the contest were great too.

OUT: Pittonet, Kennedy, Cuningham
IN: McKay, Silvagni, Martin

Jack buys us more run through the attacking half, and can help grind down their ruck and inside mid rotation.

Cuningham unluckier than what people here seem to think given Owies' performance, but I don't think he's good for a full match at the moment. Sub opportunity for him or Dow, probably Dow.

Cincotta to Rayner, Marchbank and Newman keeping an eye on McCarthy at times.

I'm expecting Gunston back in, which is where McGovern and Marchbank would go for stints, and that pushes Bailey into midfield. Kemp will have a height disadvantage against Hipwood, but he'll be on his shoulder for most of his leads.

The rest figures itself out.

Boxing them out and forcing them to run wide absolutely hurt their ability to finish, and where they were finishing from.

That was part of the defensive structure and tactics, but I don't want that to continue against the Lions as it barely worked, especially considering that the Dees picked an injury sub in 2023.

We need to fix what we're doing up forward, and compliment it with how we move the ball in transition.
As much as my admiration for the young man, my sense of tradition and nostalgia wants Jack Silvagni in a Carlton premiership thrust (and just to reward his warrior efforts in the lean times), there is no way they are dropping Pittonet after last nights game. We may see Pitto as a journeyman ruckman, but he bested one of the best ever in that game, and that deserves inclusion, if for no other reason than it sees the ruck combo with TKD evolving into one of the best 1/2 punch in the comp. I think they have both improved immensely this season, in no small part a catalyst for the winning sequence.

If JSOS is to come in to the team it has to be as the best 'spare parts' operator in the caper. Can do almost any job except those that require outright legspeed. It is tragic that he got injured playing his best ever game.

My heart want Jsos in the team. My head says ' no place for him'. I'm gutted.

Lets see whata Vossy and the MC think.

If they drop Fog they are nuts. He is exactly what is required on a forward flank in a final.

Can’t be allowing Coleman and McKenna too much time and space with the ball or they will absolutely dice us up.

I think it'll be Hollands and cunners out for martin and H.....kennedy sub
Cuners has been down for about a month, subbed out and looks likely to be omitted.

Dutchy did little wrong in his time on ground. Was quite influential in our last goal, would love for him to get a full game.

Kennedy is a fave of mine, however he is probably not an ideal option as sub. Lacks wheels, think a sub should provide run and speed late in a game. To maximise their strengths against tiring opponents.

My nostalgic self wants jsos as sub. He would be really versatile obviously. But my rational self has to acknowledge he's been out of action for too long. The footy gods need to step up and make it happen (and make it a good move!).
Agree, be great to see Jack. Don't think it will happen though, but you never know.

Marchbank continually found himself in the right position last night then butchered it. Dropping marks, spoiling, team mates. That’s better than being being anonymous I guess but was poor.

Marchbank has always been brilliant at marking the ball. What comes next has always been hit and miss.

Lack of continuity is a factor, but I think even in an ideal world he is not a particularly clean footballer.

Pitto won’t be dropped, but if looking at his stats last night as an example of his success is questionable. How many tap out did Melbourne have no nominated ruck? Let Max take an easy grab for a shot. Where was he when Oliver almost kicked the sealer and Max was on the goal line. Pitto is a toiler... has had no impact around the ground even for a relieving mark. His use seems to be an early punching bag for the opponent ruck to tire them so as we can unleash TDK on them when they’re a bit tired.

A reason not to look just at stats. Was immense against one of the best players in the game.

Carlton are $3 with SB on AFL app vs Lions. 😱 Where is the faith in the Blues? Believe! How many more matches must the blue boys win to prove their grass-shoots have come to fruition? 😂
