Jeez the suggestion is not that outrageous. Besides, he was left out for fear of re-injuring after coming back too soon, not match fitness.
Agree. Last week he would have clearly been rushed in and underdone.

I'm guessing he would have had another game load simulation training session last weekend and would now be much better prepared.

Weitering on Daniher
Marchbank on Hipwood
McGovern on McCarthy
Kemp on Cameron
Saad on Rayner
Cincotta on Bailey

I have Kemp on Cameron when Cameron plays deep. Cameron's marking ability might find Saad out. Saad can follow him when he's not on the last line.

Lions will play Harris on McKay, Payne/Gardiner on Curnow, Starcevich on Martin. No idea what they will do when TDK is resting forward.

They have a great forward line.

Worry about Kemp on Cameron TBH.

Daniher and Hipwood get up the ground a bit - interesting to see if Weiters stays back like he did against the swans - once they push up beyond 55 - let them go & hold our defensive shape behind the ball.

Got a few guns who I think are going to want to prove themselves and assert themselves on this game.

Charlie - #1 forward in the comp. Has copped some criticism. Is going to want to show he can do it on the big stage.

Martin- Would have been feeling awful not being out there on the weekend when we were down late in the last qtr. Will want to make amends for his suspension.

Big H- Will be shattered he missed last match. Also has had alot of criticism leveled his way. Talk of we are a better side without him.

Need our forward line to fire this weekend.

7 or 8 from this group would be amazing

It is possible that Weitering just plays deeper regardless of who is back there for them. Just need our ruckman to camp around the defensive 50 and go up with their talls, but McInerney loves to join those forward thrusts so has to be watched as well.

Wasn’t perfectly executed, but it was the perfect kick. It left for the Dees player to think they had a chance at spoiling, which led them to over-commit and then you know the rest. Saying this all in hindsight of course, but imagine being 18 or 19yo and you have that moment with that roar of the crowd and that pressure. I wouldn’t want it.
Oh yes, you would.

I don't care who we select. For the first time in as long as I can remember I know that whoever the MC picks will give their all and is the right decision based on what they know.

No more second guessing every little decision they make. It's like a cautious parent who finally trusts their adult children to do the right thing.

One last thing, I never want to see anyone call any of our players soft again. They are warriors. They have proven us wrong. The team has showed that they have tria arxidia and the will to win.

Whoever runs out on saturday lets ****ing go get these campaigners

Brisbane were clearly the best team we played all year in terms of their ability to play the game on their terms imo. We were out of form, but my mates and I all walked away saying "that was like the Geelong game last year" and with the feeling that the flag was theirs to lose (like Geelong last year, albeit not on the level of the Cats last year). The Lions have a different feel about them this year - like they really believe they're the best (which I think is the case) and they're playing with more maturity up forward. I can only assume that since that game we've done a load of work figuring out our best system to beat them, so I'm looking forward to seeing what we produce.

I reckon we've got the talent, but whether we have the system and fitness is another question. I'd be more confident if we were playing more like Carlton 6-12 weeks ago. That being said, anything can happen on any given day and we know our guys will give everything they've got. For that reason alone, we can go in with the belief that we can do this.

If only this game was at the MCG...we'd be heavy favourites then.

Lions probably a 4 goal better team at the Gabba than MCG.

We are definitely playing far more conservative, slowing down play and hugging the boundary more than we were during our dominant period and during that time we defeated some very good in form sides.
Is this due to conserving bodies for the GF, different personnel, players carrying injuries, increased finals pressure?
We are still getting over the line but I'd like to see faster transition from D50, run and handball chains and burst from clearances again, without sacrificing contested footy.
Fear of losing?
Twelve weeks ago we didn't have that and played accordingly.

I hope not. Want Weiters doing the intercept marks.

Say again? Proven who wrong?

Anyone else think that JSOS is a chance for Saturday?

He’s a chance, but it’s one in a million.

Docherty on AFL360 made a comment that after getting a 2 year deal sorted JSOS could focus on getting his body right for 2024.

He wasn’t suggesting that JSOS won’t play again this year but you can read between the lines..

The best way to defend is to attack!

Attack from the midfield and keep the ball in our fwd half more often

I’m banking on our forwards troubling their defenders, more than theirs to ours :)

Let’s go Baggers - it’s our time!

If Carlton makes it through to the Grand Final, that'll be 3 MCG finals and 1 interstate in a final 8 consisting of 4 interstate teams.(and finishing outside the top 4)
That's a good omen, you need a little bit of good fortune to win a flag.
