If we get over Brisbane, how much will be left of us for the big dance? Probably no shame suggesting we played our GF in the PF of 99.

The difference was in '99 there were 2 teams that were clearly better than us. Very hard to beat them both in consecutive weeks.

This year is a lot more even. Where do we genuinely sit? Over the whole year we sit below Brisbane and Collingwood. There is a reasonable argument that since round 13 we are the best team in it.

The draw has thrown up the anomaly of us not meeting one of the 5 stronger interstate sides at their ground, since we started winning in round 14. We only have to get over that hurdle once and we would go in to the GF with every reason to believe we are the better team.

This week feels utterly interminable.
I find I'm transfering my own tiredness post epic game onto the team, and then making up scenarios based on that in my head.
Thing is, the players are super fit elite athletes. I doubt they are tired. Banged up and sore yeah, but that's what weekly recovery is for.
They will want this, and the right psychology to get our boys ready will be found.
Never mind the media calls for testing out shoulders and ribs.
As long as we continue figgting it out 4x4 we're a chance
So yeah,
I'm saying we're a chance. A real chance.

There. I've killed 2 minutes for you Mebbe. You are entirely welcome.
😀💙

I know we had players with injury concerns in 99, and both doc and acres have shoulder issues right now.

The thing that I see as real benefit for us this year is that Walsh, Cerra, Crippa, gov, Martin and Harry have had time off prior to the finals. They all are now back to work but not battle weary like they would have been if playing through without rest.

I have no doubt Walsh has played so well because he is fresher coming in.

So in answer to your question, all the players will be dealing with some niggles but we have a number of key players ready to go full throttle for 2 more games.

They also believe in their teammates, game style and their coach, I can’t remember how I felt leading into the finals in 99 but we probably weren’t the best team in it.

This year the boys have beaten Melbourne, pies and port recently, have to get over the bears and we’re in with a real good shot.

As for this weeks game, I can’t think of a better coach to take us up to the Gabba and come home with the win than Vossy.

It’s his home ground!!!!!!

If we get there I think this team will have unwavering belief that they can win it, regardless of how banged up they are. If it happens to be GWS we’d even go in as favourites.

There’s a lot of neg in media about our chances - driving me nuts.

If you put aside preconceived ideas and simply looked at the form lines over 3 months of both teams - this is a much closer game than the media dolts espouse.

Brisbane have all the pressure on them.

They are playing at home as heavy favourites - having failed badly recently in prelims.

The Blues will go into this match with their one-wood, frantic pressure around the ball & man - crushing it around clearances, creating stoppages.

It’ll be close at the start, forced errors, the team taking their chances in front.

The longer we are in it - the more The Brions will fear failure - pressure builds.

Our mids are arguably the best in the comp - Pitto, TDK, Crippa, Cerra, Walsh, Doc & Acres.

We have a very strong forward group led by the last two Coleman Medalists, adding Jack Martin and a fleet of smalls in great form.

We’ve shown we don’t need any one player to kick a bag to win.

Our team defence is immense - the back six shaping up well on great forwards lines over the past 3 months.

This will be a close one - something we’ve been attuned to for the past month.

We’ve got every chance!

Cmon baggers !!

I think the week off will be a big benefit in a GF (Pies vs Blues, or Bris v GWS) so a Pies GF isn’t ideal. Think statistically last few years the week off doesn’t particularly help in a prelim, but can help in the GF if fresh.

So cheering GWS which I’m sure we all were anyway :D

great post.

Need to build the pressure - and maintain it.

Entirely winnable game.

That they've had only one match in a month (and it was a darn soft match against a dismal Port) may well work against them.

Motlop ain't getting dropped. That's crazy talk.
If anything , McKay and Martin in
Kennedy and Cunningham out
Yes, Voss likes to keep things simple.

Plenty of reasons to switch out a tall defender for a Boyd/Fisher type but I doubt they'll do it... Boyd has barely played whilst Fisher is a liability defensively (even if good with ball in hand).

All of Guv, Kemp, Cinc and Marchy play tall or small.

I hadn't realised Cinc was 186cm (same height as Rayner).

I thought Kennedy and Cuners were looking like the likely outs for Martin/McKay but if you have Hollands in the third out is insanely difficult

I wonder if Hollands training in the main team was likely just because Doc isn’t in contact training, may well not get up for the game, and Hollands is in the 23 anyway.

I expect Doc is named and Hollands isn’t tonight. If they are both named, a Doc late out for a small forward becomes close to a cert imo.
