Look, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he can attend to what needs to be done before refreshing the preseason threadYou only gave him 2 minutes
At the moment i'm thinking no as a starter.
He'll spike up and down in price a bit, and even when moved to defence to stop a run of goals he can still score heavily. BUT, i dont think he will necessarily get more time in middle this season. Guys like Warner and Rowbum will. I think Parker ,ay very very soon become a permanent fwd and he'll be terrific at that but his sc scoring will be finished of course. May even be this season. More mid time for the younger guys coming....Gulden included, and Papley.
Every time Horse has used him to stop a run of goals, Mills seems to do it well. Thats something he likely feels he can rely on, so why change it ?
Right now i'm thinking for the same money a guy like Macrae might be a touch better value with Dunkley gone.
Having said that....watch me jump onboard after his first monster score. He's just a touch pricey to start this year.

It presents me with a constant dilemma. Bont/JMac likely to add 10% or more with no Dunkley, so locks and Touk/Cripps both utter locks for me. Mills would eclipse allcomers in a straight mid role, but, as you rightly state, much like Cripps chopping out TDK hurt his owners, Mills as sweeper/goalie works brilliantly for Longmire.
Also, Treloar still recovering from an ankle. With Dunkley/Treloar out, i'm thinking that flog Smiff might even be damn good value at $100K less to start at M4.
Many like me started 3 dog mids last year Bont Macrae Dunkley...and that wasnt a bad thing. Macrae was a bit underwhelming though. Cant see an issue starting Bont/Macrae/Smiff at M2/3/4. Its early though and bound to change my mind.
Macrae mskes it tough for me to start Mills at M3/M4. Might be a very early target though. Cant have them all.

Starting to think I’ll go 6 premo mid, lots of good rookie def options so may go cheap in that line for money making.Titch & LDU may swap for Green, Anderson etc.

Far too light in defense - I like both but neither Young nor Little Nicky are guaranteed to be premo's this year. You could face needing 6 defensive upgrades. Puts too much pressure on your rookie defenders to score well imo.

I’ll probably revert back to 5 mids but don’t mind this. Think Mitchell & LDU clear 110+ but you are probably right.

Yeahhh, what about this then? Don’t mind at all. Went slightly cheaper in middle, added Doch to defence. Still 6 mid premo counting Hopper for now.
Fat back line... but none of the forwards are jumping out at me so I'm going big there.

Happy with the backs and mids. Starting to come around to Draper. Forwardline is weak but i dont like any of the guns available after Dunks. Rozee has been in and out but i'm leaning towards taking the punt on Cerra in my mids instead as im still not certain Rozee gets the midfield minutes that he should. I dont trust their coach. I feel like Murphys Law will mean whatever decision i make regarding Rozee, will be the wrong one!

First team, rookies obviously all placeholder.
King hopefully not on the field, but with GCS improvement I can him hitting 300k. Will only take if there aren't any other FWD rooks.
Sicily could become Dawson, but if Hawthorn are as bad as I expect them to be he could go 115+. Green will become Steele if some cash is freed up but I like him as a M8 110+guy this year. No idea if McKenna will play but an easy switch out with Ginbey and mid rook if he doesn't.
Taranto v Rozee probably the biggest toss up in the team, will need to see Ports midfield mix with a non-cooked Butters and JHF in during pre-season.

Callaghan to rookie, Culley to rookie and Yeo to Wilmot/McKenna/Goater.
Get another premo fwd in for someone like Flanders.

Ziebell could shoot me in the foot but the bloke knows how to find cheap kicks and he might take lots of kick ins. The upside is sky high.
Not big on JHF as he’s at a price where he just about needs to be a keeper and I don’t think he’s there yet. Ziebell can be a keeper, even if it’s a small chance.
I don’t know why Balta doesn’t score. I think if they sit him in an attacking centre half back role, he could break out but I’m only speculating. There’s nothing concrete about his scoring potential to suggest he’s a good pick.
Archie Perkins is in my ear. But Essendon are too unpredictable, and i fancy he’s playing there this pre season just to give him a feel. Truth is there’s probably 6 or 7 mids ahead of him.
There’s Fyfe, but come on. Injury plagued and not playing guts… I don’t see him getting far. Windhager is cheap but his scoring was abysmal at times last season and are we certain he plays guts? I don’t see tremendous upside. Lastly, I think Sam Flanders is the biggest trap. I don’t care if he has 80 touches in a VFL game, he can’t find it at the top level and the Suns are very stubborn with their midfield mix and there’s too many boys trying to squeeze into the midfield.
I’m having a feeling my final R1 team will be very GWS heavy, a lot of players have a very value feel behind them.
Haynes returning to the backline, remember he averaged a tick under 100 in his AA year.
Callaghan on the return and has had a blinder of a pre season and showed in his limited play last year that he can score decently.
Daniels has also had a brilliant preseason and could be a very good forward option.
Ash might be a bit of a Smokey option (no pun intended) too. New half back role has been confirmed for him.
