I don't get this reasoning. Players always have bad games it doesn't mean they will in the future. He isn't injured, he wasn't really tagged, he just had a s**t game. It happens.
I concur. I’ll be going the George Constanza way and doing the opposite of what I would usually do…and put the C on Laird once again this week 🤞

If laird goes 120+ it's fine. just pick him up like everyone else will in 5 weeks. it's just burnt trades. Laird will always be there but Tom Green/Setterfield/Ziebell won't be this cheap ever again.
Until Scott loses patience with McGrath and swaps/moves Setterfield back to halfback and brings Nic Cox in and plonks him on a wing.

My second trade will be very dependent on teams. (First trade was a straight swap of Jones to Cole)

If Hollands is dropped for whatever reason, it’ll be a straight swap to Mackenzie. Might still do it even if he isn’t dropped. Meaning I give the Ash experiment one more week and I’ll downgrade next week and bank a bit of cash.

While this is half in jest, it's probably the correct play.:tearsofjoy:

The worst move would be to overcorrect and lock in Laird's price fall by trading him out. If you hold him for the full year you haven't lost any money. If he doesn't end up being a top 8 mid, well you weren't recovering from starting him anyway such is the price you pay for starting top end premiums. Bringing him back in in 5 weeks when everyone else gets on at 900k isn't a strategy to rocket back up the ranks after burning two trades.

My team is a mess.

I own Xerri and Laird and don't have Chandler.

I have $162K in the bank.

If i get rid of a spud rookie to Chandler, I can only get Xerri up to a Goldy/Ladhams/TDK type.

Am I better off going Laird to LDU or one of the 'big 5' forwards down to Ziebell and then Xerri to a premo ruck?

Or stick with the mid price ruck strategy so i don't miss out on Chandler?

Thoughts?

What's your full squad like? Can you post it?

I would think best strategy would be to get of the most mediocre mid pricer (Sheed, Duursma, Hunt) and try get Xerri up to Darcy/Witts. Then wait for teams and if you have a red dot rookie sideways to Chandler.

Hold Laird.

not when you already have all of the rookies though. you're also upgrading another player with the cash u get from Laird.

Alright friends, I'm leaving my trade up to you, add a bit of fun to the game. It'd be handy if I could make a poll but most replies will have to do..so please, someone reply. Or if you agree with a reply just 'like it'. Let's hope this works.
So, if you were trading Laird for someone from my list, who would you select?
The current list, in rough order:
Brayshaw
Setterfield
Oliver
Greene
Worpel
Coniglio
Warner

Someone talk me off this ledge..
All I'll say is, every time I've picked up Ziebell in the past, I've regretted it! He might ton up again next round and just to keep you on your toes, throw in a 60 the next week.

One vote, Laird. If you go have a squiz at my team on page 12 of this thread, I just don't have any other trade to make. No carnage and no missed rookies. Unless you can come up with an alternative.

Why'd you bother to start him then? If you jump off a pick after one subpar score, wouldn't it have been optimal to not start the most expensive bloke in the game when his price decline would be the greatest?

Hollands seems the one that looks on the edge for me in your mob - but if you take advice from me you're doing it wrong!

I'd say you'll probably have a red dot when teams are named so wouldn't sweat it at the moment.

Nice team - and nice spot to be in at this stage.

Also +1 for hold Laird.

Yeah Sheed to Chandler via DDP is a decent shout. Even though I think he'll rack up the plus 6's at Optus.
And then Xerri to Darcy or English?

Doc, McGrath, Day, Constable, Ginbey, Cowan (Wilmot, Chesser)
Laird, Macrae, Green, Sheed, Worpel, Ashcroft, Mackenzie, Hollands (Pou, Davey)
Marshall, Xerri (Heath)
Dunkley, TT, Cogs, Rozee, Gulden, Sheezel (Pedlar, Greene) (Utility: Long)

Yep agreed that sticking with Ash and Cumming is the play. North half backs (Sheezel 118, Ziebell 109, LMac 88) went quite well against West Coast last week and Whitfield out will give them extra space to seagull.

Yeah hopefully Ash gets the Whit role and gets a few more points. The reason I went with Ash is he’s likely to get DPP which could be handy considering the dire DEF situations. He had a much better second half and had a lot of opportunities, just needs that for the whole game.

EDIT: Just saw Ash actually had 21 touches. So I’ll definitely keep him. The role is there

I have Sheed too and think he will be fine for an 85-90 avg but it might be a slow burn to start. Much better off getting to a top 4 ruck and making the money on Chandler as opposed to Sheed. You could also look at bringing one of your big 5 mid/fwds up to take Sheed's spot and bringing Pedlar on field.

If you run Cowan as the emergency Thursday night and he pops that would give you some more flexibility with your trades. Wilmot at home likely to score ok so it should be fine if Cowan tanks again.

This is also part of my issue. No carnage so no obvious mid-pricer/premium trade out.

Apparently Laird's last two games against the Tiges are, at home a 95 (2022) and 75 when Adel played Tigs at Giants Stadium (sound familiar) in 2021. Still had 26 and 25 touches but predominantly handballs.
