What’s a joke?

Surely someone such as BJ who was an elite kick in the modern game - is a better candidate to teach the likes of King then Rath?

I mean as a fan base we were practically on our knees begging for King/the club to take Lloyd up on his offer
Isn't Rath teaching goal-kicking the clubs fault though? Not that I agree with it but we had Lloyd in the wings, and have had past players like Dixon and Roughead in the past right?

I think 75% of the issues aren't even technique it's more to do with confidence I reckon. They can hit field kicks within a 10m radius all day long but crumble when they're infront of the sticks

It’s Rattens fault.

He didn’t want to have change or have outside help.

Said it numerous times. Backed his man in.

Not sure we had the resources under Richo

I didn't even realise that Rath was doing anything with him. What ever he did wasn't working that well.

Rath was the kicking action specialist.

Roughy also did some work with him. But that was more goal kicking practice and Roughy standing on the mark.

Ratten was just against change or bringing someone from the outside in.

Yeah, definitely a lot of it looks psychological with us. I remember the stat of Higgins kicking on goal. If he nails his first shot on goal he usually nails them all. Miss one and he derails. Max looked similar but that said just going through a routine that doesn't vary seems to be a pretty solid way to overcome that.

Mowman dropped the exclusive that Rath was collecting footys that went over the fence at training wasn't he?

As I was putting that post together I was thinking about Higgins. It definitely is psychological I reckon. Higgins is a huge example of that.

Rath wasn't that impressive in his time with us. Stopping his promotion and bringing in the footy department additions that we did looks like some of the best moves we've made in 15 years. We look like we have a solid platform to work off now. Before it was like throwing logs on a dumpster fire.

It's amazing how positivity can flow through. Melbourne before they turned it around looked like an ammos side. I remember we played them at Marvel a few years back and it was possibly the most unskilled display of footy ever. On a climate controlled deck it looked like a shit-off. Both of us were trying to lose.

A year later they won a flag and their players were hitting targets. Their shit kicks started converting all of a sudden. Just that positivity cycle kicking in where they stop the self doubt. It will be interesting seeing King in a side where the weight of the side isn't on his shoulders.

I still think Richo was better than he's credited with.

Great feature. I just autogenerated the ladder and fixed up the howlers (eg: some WC games where they winning by 90 points). Feel silly afterwards but we don't have a brutal draw and some of the clubs we thought would be right up there don't appear to be as big a threat as we thought (WB, Freo, Cats, Tigers).

If the Scum are making finals then the algorithm is clearly faulty.

I'm not surprised Rath didn't last long after Ross was appointed, Ross is one of the best tactical minds in the game so we had no use for Rath after that.

also if anyone saw socials today, looked like a dedicated session for goal kicking
It was... we went down for a tour of the DFC as the family had organised a plaque in dad's name (will post in the membership thread how great the club has been to deal with).

The boys had an extended goal kicking comp at the Nepean Hwy end... they were having a ball. Great spirit all round.

Sharmo by far the best from what I saw.

Has Roughy removed himself from all coaching and focussing on List management? I haven’t seen him in any media from training sessions?

Just an aside for all those posters using the acronym “BDE” as shorthand for the descriptor: Big Dick Energy.
Please be advised that all the Boomer posters on this site will think you are referring to little blue pills.
Thanks in advance.
