David King is a massssssive flip flopper with the integrity of a wet noodle. His analysis on play by play and tactics isnt bad at all but the his general assesment is all over the place and based on very short term form. Remember this is the man who claimed we would go winless in 2014 or 15 (i forget which).

Win the ones we should win and win a 50/50 and we play finals. Realistically we lose one we should win and win one against a good side. We also play better against the Lions than a lot of others so I'm not writing off a win against them over here.

Probably do but Richmond are proper shit. They look worse than the Hawks. There are no easy games and even WCE are getting players back and not as easy to bash up. We just need to start focussing. Not too worried yet, Lyon and the other coaches need to come up with a new plan over the break.

We just lost to the Hawks.
We can go back to our time honored tradition of playing really well and just losing against the top sides, and playing crap and losing to the weak sides.

I listened to that on SEN, they were saying that Wilkie has gone from 4th best to 14th recently, Battle from 6th to 12th and Howard 8th to 40th or something. Howard seemed to be the biggest drop off.

He did agree that the midfield was putting pressure on ahead of them but said that they need to be able to defend one on one if the ball does come in.

Our issues are totally obvious so you've got to laugh at these media groups running with our defense being the issue or defenders not playing to standard. Dougal fair enough, but the rest is totally on the midfield group. They've been smashed week after week.

Both those boys will take a while longer yet. Personally l don't see why Cordy can't play FB to ease the load on Doogs, Batts and Wilkie. Despite their good performances our backline is undersized. I'd have expected a year of exploration to consist of just that but it seems Ross is in no hurry at the moment.

Ironically, he gets too focussed on his man when the ball is in flight and often gets out manoeuvred

He was obviously going well at the start of the year but part of that was the pressure on the ball coming into our defence. it's almost 100% on the mids and outside runners at the moment.

He can look very lost at times. I have days where I never want to see him again and other where I think he could be a gun .There are a few players who have fallen away a lot since Lyon came. Gresham and Howard would be the most obvious of them. Last year Gresh had 25 disposals and 4 goals against the Hawks, this year he looked lost.

Howard in 2020 was regularly in our bests. You'd love to know why these guys have struggled to meet the same level this year. Quite a few players look a bit worse this year so I imagine it's trying to fit into a system.

My mate reckons that we re playing a deliberately less defensive game to make us less predictable but at the moment it makes us look lost. Perhaps we don't understand more complexity. There were suggestions that players didn't understand Ratts game plan and you can't imagine it was rocket science.

I think Howard plays lose because he's not a great 1v1 defender and needs the space to get a run and jump to spoil the ball.

It works well often because he's got speed and athletic ability to get to contests and impact with a spoil but when he's genuinely isolated he often gets lost and looks all at sea.
