Kid captained Caulfield last year so will get a full season next year under Clarko to show what he can do.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see him hang around on the VFL team if he doesn’t make the grade.

Drury Is more of a Caleb Daniel type. Was one of the better performers last preseason and stood out with ball use and composure under pressure. Not sure what happened towards the end of the preseason and start of the season, but suffered a setback and never really recaptured that early form. Was also trialled as a small forward in the VFL which isn’t his go.

I remember the pre-season game against Richmond at Arden St, was trusted more with kick ins and distributing off half back more so than any other player - which stood out to me at the time.

What’s the saying? Snuff out the flair and make them play to structures?
The footballers who follow instructions will tend to look like they’re lost out there.
Kayne Turner is the perfect example. Gets picked every week but seems like a shell of the kid who burst onto the scene.
The ones that make it are able to modify their game based on being effective in a functioning gameplan.
Let’s hope that rings true for Drury.

19 out the door eh. Reckon Drury, Free, Hansen and Stepho are safe for now. that leaves 15 list spots and three first round picks. Hopefully we take 12 KPP's in the draft and hope one is half decent.

We should have been rebuilding far earlier. I've said it before but what we're experiencing is the after effects of hanging on to our premiership window (hard to call it that when Scotts couldn't get us a top 4 berth!) for far too long (robbing us of high draft picks and YOUTHFUL trade targets) then having the madness which was the Shaw + Noble years to cap it all off. So instead of having the list rebuilt and contending again in JZ + co's last years we're at our bloody lowest and looking to replace all our veterens AS WELL as having to draft from the bottom up.

You don't get to become a bottom 2 side for four years if you had a great list. The greater issue was that 4 or 5 years ago half a list was just a few players. Without getting a lot of wins on the board, we have improved the list significantly. Even top 4 teams have dead weight on their list that they shed over time, you are never going to have an all-australian list.
