He’s probably the 7th defender rotation off the bench I rate him higher than Bergman

And at the least would be depth/just outside the team

Ya kidding?

Bergman is two years younger and 10kg lighter and he has already shown more than Perez. Provides better kicking, more run and carry and is a far better decision maker ball in hand.

Thomas - Stays as we wouldn't get fair value.
Goldstein - Stays
Greenwood - Stays - 1 year rookie deal
Lazzaro - Stays/Trade - Contracted for one more year.
CCJ - Stays/Trade - Contracted for two more years.
Free - Stays
Drury - Stays - has shown enough as a rookie
Shiels - Stays - leadership is invaluable
Dawson - Stays - 1 year rookie deal - mainly because there is a severe lack of talls in this years draft.
McKay - Gone - Free Agency
Mahoney - Gone - Limited footballer
Turner - Gone - Limited footballer
Edwards - Gone
Howe - Gone - limited footballer
Bonar - Gone - Injury Prone
Young - Gone - Limited footballer
Spicer - Gone
Perez - Gone - Plenty of state league half backs that could contribute more than him.
Hall - Retired
Ziebell - Retired
Cunnington - Retired

That's 12 that have either been retired or delisted, think that's more than enough list changes in one year. Hopefully with the rookie list we look at taking some mature state league players in that 22-26 age bracket who would be desperate for an opportunity at AFL level.

The question is replace them with what? If we draft even lower probability kids then we are stuck with them for two years at least.

I am not sure it is a lot better for the development of the players we do think will make it if they have to try and gel with a revolving door of players, I don't mind us focusing on quality and really only bring in budget players to fill a critical hole in the list if we can't find a top talent.

Imagine the environment when we bring in Wardlaw, Sheezel and others and say you need to bond with these players, but we are just going to get rid of a third of our list every year, it is going to be disruptive.

I mean if we had a ton of good picks and a lot of high end talent coming in the sure, but every team, including the top 4 have list cloggers because they perform roles and are low cost/low maintenance. I doubt anyone needs to get on Turner's arse to do sessions, he is a defacto development coach.

It would be ideal if we had top end talent all over the list, but we wouldn't be on the arse end of the ladder for so long if we had that. We need to correct the list in a planned and methodical manner, not just delist everyone we don't think is premiership material.
There’s plenty of decent players in the state leagues that can actually football.

Agree with everything - can’t keep limit players in hope they might change

This has been a bug bear for me for a long period of time. There is no way a limited footballer like Kayne Turner would've lasted as long on Richmond or Geelong's list.

Completely agree. It's been an entrenched part of North Melbourne from the Brad Scott / Cam Joyce era, hopefully we're finally leaving that behind.

I think Drury is getting overvalued on this board.

I'd have made a case for giving Spicer longer to develop but seems most likely he's gone.
If Spicer had been able to add some bulk in his time with us, I think he would've developed into a really good pressure forward.

Got into good positions to lay tackles, but didn't have sufficient size to impact.

Isnt Greenwood already extended.

I'd be inclined to keep Spicer. Haven't seen much VFL but I thought he was showing definite improvement

If there was still any doubt, confirmation that Free is signed for 2024 - AFL off-season injury update: Roo recovering from leg crack

Hamish Free – Shoulder
Expected return: Start of pre-season (non-contact)

"Hamish is tracking well, he is starting to build his strength loads in the gym and has been in running conditioning over the past two weeks.

"He will look to put a big off-season in to build his shoulder strength and look to further enhance his aerobic tank. We envisage that he will be modified from contact on his return.

When will they announce delistings?
Officially after the Best & Fairest (16th Sept) is my guess, I suspect on the night of the B&F news will start filtering out as to who has been delisted.

Love that you have McKay front and centre in that group.

you need an IQ of 3 to drive a bus, I was informed of that at school. Jokes was on them when I roared home with 17! :p
But alas Benny couldn't quite find first gear.
3 for Magoo is the best ever news and if it happens, we're ****ing cooking with gas, unless your home is yet to be built as Dan won't let you.
Please let it be true, and Sanders and then that is all.
We've won everything that could be won.
By 2025 we'll have many a footballer desperate to board the bus of hope.

I actually think bus driver is a way underrated job.

Try being a bus driver in Melbourne. Shit traffic, heaps of dickhead patrons (depending on route), constant roadworks, accidents, idiots in bus lanes etc to **** up your timetables.

If you stuff up your work you can ruin everyone's schedule or even endanger their lives.

These guys who should be up there with neurosurgeons and university facility managers in the pecking order.

Oh I would never besmirch a *BJ.
* Bus Job - bloody tough gig we can agree.

Oh FM Uni Mangers, once you set it up the rest is easy, just I feel my sense of humor doesn't equate to their requirements. I am shocked just like you.

But I'm in the lift industry now and trying to make a difference, feels like I'm pissing into the wind.

The wind going up or the wind going down? 🤔

Hang in there mate, like all industries it has plenty of ups and downs.

Lol yes well that be true. Sometimes they don’t move for weeks which was a surprising thing to learn
Be careful out there... like the mafia or eh, the deep south sometimes in the lift industry - everyone is related to everyone else.
