Hello Shinboners!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

surely they've got enough talls? you're right about their big bodied mids, but other than Smith, none are in the first flush of youth - Bontempelli will be a 28 next year, so I'd have thought Sanders?

I feel like they've got giants in Naughton JUH Darcy Lobb and soon Croft, then nothing really in that mid size bracket (like your Zurhaars) before it drops right off height wise to Weightman and Jones

The Dogs should be auctioning off picks 10 and 17 themselves into 2024, which is a midfield heavy draft, which is exactly what they need.

As an example, we could probably offer them the 2 x PP's, R2 2024 + extra's for 2024 for 10 & 17.

They hit 2024 with 4 x top 20 picks to rejuvenate their midfield and still get Croft this year. The 4 x mids they could get next year would probably be on Darcy Wilsons level.

Instead of 4 x top 20 picks + Croft, they will get Watson (maybe) and Croft.

Absolutely mad.

They are blowing up their chance to rebuild on the run in the top 8 when they've been kissed on the dick with the likes of JUH, Darcy, Croft.

They will end up trying to replace Bont, Macrae, Libba and Dunkley with mid first round kids.

If he genuinely went back to Qld for family reasons, I can understand why he'd take years over money, why go through the hassle again of upping sticks for a couple of years.
Not saying you are, but a lot of people are sceptical about how genuine AFL players are when they want to go home for family reasons.

Now, clearly, I'm not an AFL player, but many years ago I had moved interstate for work in a shitty workplace situation (as Chol was at Richmond) and I needed to get out. There were many paths I could have chosen that made more sense but it was so rough that all I could think of was going home. It's comfortable, and calming, and you get back to your family and childhood friends, all of which is perfect when you've had a rough trot.

But that doesn't mean you have to stay there forever. In my case, I moved interstate again for my career several years later. Chol and Hardwick clearly don't get along, so he's chosen to progress his career and that basically means another interstate move. It's not perfect but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Keep in mind the Dogs have a F/S rated roughly around pick 10-15 in Croft, plus they definitely are right in the "premiership window" mindset.

It makes sense if they can turn pick 10 + 17 + 14ish into pick 4 + Croft. I reckon they'll be big into Watson as he'll have immediate impact up forward.

We should definitely be using our 2024 picks to get up to 10 though, that'd be a massive win.

sure, point taken; only going off the conversation at the time, and it's hard to argue with the point you make about Hardwick - it seemed that as soon as he was named coach, Chol was looking around

Their current list is done imo.

We've been saying it every year and they've finished 7th-9th in 3 of the last 4 years.

Darcy, Croft etc are too young at the moment and Libba, Macrae, Bont Treloar are all into their 30's or about to hit their 30's.

There's a big inbalance in their list between their young KPP's and their midfielders.

They will lose English next year as well. He will move to WCE for $1m+ a season, an absolute certainty. By the sound of Twoomey, Bailey Smith will honor the final year of his deal next year and be off as well.

They are going to need to completely rebuild their midfield over the next 3 years and will lose their two youngest centerpieces of it.

Just want to say WCE will take Reid if they’re left holding pick #1. No way it doesn’t happen even if they don’t want him. The fallout would be huge.

For argument sake if he wanted to come back to VIC after the first year the bidding war and raft of picks coming would be huge.

I’m confident we’re trading up for Reid. Deal was done when Clarko went to Perth.

Just need to offer enough to help west coast save face and they’ll do the deal.

What’s the deal look like and what do end up with?

It would probably just leave us with one extra late 1st round pick while weakening our strength at the top end.

I put zero thought into it.

This is Mackay compo killing time posting.

But I would like a legit first rounder death ride to beef up opportunities this time next yr too...(and double the weekly entertainment if we still shit)

I imagine after that weird limbo of wce beating wb, they would have been in panic mode on trying to retain curtint

Should North offer Pick 19 and Future Pick 20 to Carlton for Fisher and Pick 16? Who would say no?

He's just not worth close to an early second rounder. I understand he's contracted, however I'd rather us walk away then overpay for Fisher. Would be a mistake paying anything more then a third rounder IMO.
