Hello Shinboners!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

In racing terms, it seems Curtin has the blows.

A bit puzzling.

On the vision, he looks athletic, composed and is an above average kick. Being a lefty doesn't hurt either.

He's definitely physical and he's well built for an 18yo. He's also rising 196cm.

Our backline is terrible. Worst backline we've had in 50 years yet we see points of difference in midfielders in this crop!

He's been top 4 all year so we'd be hardly be reaching at 2 or 3.

His recent comments about playing under Clarko were impressive too.

Can't see too many knocks on him.
He could still be in calculations, lots of flip-flopping in here over the past 48 hours, me included.

Clarko met with him at the wafl GF where Curtin played in the colts Curtain raiser and was in the BOG’s

I commend Brady for getting our current draft hand…can’t recall us ever having this many at our disposal.

I think he did well, he got 17 and 18 plus Fisher and Stephens from the PPs and so far he hasn't cashed out any of our future picks.

As for the media ….they’re board stiff and have dead space to fill in until next Friday..hence these bonkers trade scenarios. I’ve lost count of how many of them eagerly suggest we sell the farm and then some, then head into the draft with a reduced hand. Whilst giving other clubs a leg up with their suggestions. So I’ll look at each clip of these so called experts …have a chuckle…and move on.

I think what is exacerbating things is Hawthorn and Melbourne going all-in trying to go up for pick 1.

I’m sure after what we have acquired, Brady and co will look into what’s the reasonable risk in the possibility of gaining the cats, gws or even pick one. (if that’s what they’re thinking) If they are way out there bonkers crazy, we walk away. As mentioned on this board, play our cards right and make considered moves, this is shaping up as a club defining draft… Just look at the melts going on in the media and on socials from other clubs and supporters…they know it… s+$# them as it us against them.

My only concern is that if Clarko says get it done then Brady will get it done. Clarko allegedly paid overs at Hawthorn for players he wanted. But it is not really a major concern atm.

I am guessing as things stall between what we want to give and what Eagles want some stuck deals will gather into the vortex and a convoluted trade may go down that is confusing enough that it will take a month to figure out who got boned.

I’ve always been of the thought get as many top quality players as you can, without significantly trading away your advantage….Just look at Harry and George.
So until then I’ll trust what Brady is cooking up, and laugh at these media muppets creating their own trade scenarios in their heads, that becomes newsworthy so they can be paid for so called journalism. After all it is the silly season….and so far it’s looking rather glorious.

I think an issue is our list is imbalanced still, we are very low on KPDs, KPFs, Rucks and Wings and have major surpluses in other roles.

If we go for Reid I am guessing we are going to lose 2 of the later first round picks and unfortunately that is a pretty good spot to address some of the deficiencies we have, some really good KPP and Ruck prospects should be available there.

I am not too fussed what we go for or who we draft, I just don't want to see us be ripped off.

We've been exactly were WCE is now back in 2021 with two exception:
1. the true No.1 was tied (N.Dacios)
2. They have aging and injury proned, wrong side of 29+yo's premiership stars.

It's actually eerie:
Contrast that with WC, they only have picks 1 & 22 (we had 1&20), a coach that will come under heat again in 2024 and hopes those aging premiership stars won't get injured which is unlikely, again exposing a 25yo and under talent that is probably the least talented 25yo and under players in the comp and then entering the draft with the same pigheadedness that we did in 2021 that we are adamant we weren't trading #1, he's the one, we'll build around him etc etc.

So steady on Nth fanbase, we'll trade at most #3 and 15 & 17 and if were are able to prize #7 then 3,7 & 17 for #1 and possibly F2nd.

We're the best dancer in this tango dance for Reid and if they want to dance with Melb for a lowly #6 and #11 be our guest. But whatever we offer them, it will be better than any team can in this draft and possibly, like us, be their best draft hand in their history to rebuild..or they can dance solo and see how that ends for them.

If you need to delist and re-rookie someone (or 2) to make that happen, then you do it.
Apologies if this has been asked & answered already, but has the AFL confirmed yet if senior list players can be moved to the rookie list directly rather than the current method of delisting & re-drafting via the rookie draft?

Would much rather keep 2,3,7 & 17 for ourselves. Curtin/McKercher, Duursma, O'Sullivan, Slider at 17

Let them. We can tell West Coast that 2 and 17 is there for them if they want it any day up to the draft. If Hawthorn want to give up two top 5 picks for Reid then let them. Everyone else can collect as many picks as they want. If they want a player in the top 3 and want to accumulate extra picks then there is only one offer for them.

Whats this Jack Darling shit Im hearing in the news.

Heaven forbid 2+3 for 1 and JD.

Yuck.

Again, 2 and 3 ain't going anywhere.

We won't give up those. Why go through a s**t year finishing 17th, get pick 2, get pick 3 as compo from a player that was required, then piss one of them away (with other first or second rounders) just so we can move up one spot? I'd rather get somewhere between pick 5 and 10 with our later picks.

We know the Eagles have many holes and our offer was what we deemed doable in terms of addressing that, if they don't accept then cool.

We don't have to rush nor bite, it's up to the guys with pick 1.
Absolutely, the pressure is on the druggies from the west.

They can keep pick 1 because after that they don't have another decent pick.

Good luck with your rebuild with one player when you still have your core best players over the age of 30 and ready to retire in the next 2-3 years.

Can't wait for them to beg for AFL assistance package next year despite them claiming in the past it should be scrapped and they wouldn't ask.

A few people on this board bagging Kercher's disposal.

FMD we put up with Ziebell,Jy, McDonald and a Plethora of half backs that hack it into no man's land in the past.

Kercher's kicking is better than 80% of our team and will be an absolute gun. Throw in a Dursma/Sanders/Watson and I'm sleeping easy.

P.S Curtin is a slider and we ain't picking him.

North’s already ruled out trading 2 and 3, and I think only WA news has suggested it’s in any way reasonable. Seems like we will go to the draft with two of the top three picks, it’s just a question of which two.

If we get one of Reid, Curtin or Duursma with our first pick

And

One of Sanders, Watson, McKercher with our second pick, we can’t lose.

I would prefer if we forego Reid, take Duursma and Curtin and trade up for either Sanders or Watson.

Each one of the four is incredibly footysmart and extremely skilled. It would be like having three Sheezels out there in ‘24, but we could play the original wherever we wanted, such as wing.

Is Ratugolea any good? How does he compare to McKay?

If we offer slightly better than Ports 24 it seems like way overs, but we plug a hole and the Port reaction would be priceless. The evil Scott twin might get a kick out of it too.

He hasn't cemented a spot in the Geelong side for 4 years, but would waltz into ours.

Nice theory but it just doesn't work like that. Esava wants to play for Port. Geelong have to deal with Port. If we came in with an offer all it would do is force Port's price up/do Geelong a favour. Nuts to that.

I really hope we hold 2 & 3 and our later 1st rounders, I know it was partly due to injury but our boy Sheez took out the rising star this year and Wardlaw is looking exceptional.

Sheezel/Wardlaw>Ashcroft

Let’s get ourselves another Sheez/Warlord @ 2 and 3 and then the 4 of them can wave at Reid from the premiership podium

Edit: Should absolutely look at trading those later picks up though

If he goes to the PSD then we could take him and, if the mid-season trade period happens, trade him across to Port right when Logue is returning to replace him.

I can't see it happening but it would be funny if it did.

Don’t blame Reid; he would probably prefer to stay in Victoria
