My spreadsheet :)

With now Luko, Atkins out and Rioli, Noble, Himmelberg in and assuming Lombard drafted and Clohesy and Uwland upgraded from rookie list - that's 37 players on senior list, no Cat A rookies, 2 Cat B rookies.

12 players gone (Ace could come back).
So that means room for one more on the Primary List (THE SCRIPT IS BEING FOLLOWED)

See you all again on the Coasty Thread

So do we have 34 players on our senior list right now then?

If so that means we could only take 4 selections to the draft (39,49,51,61)

So we’d lose 70 & 76. That’s not too bad, we’d still be able to match from Pick 6, but pick 5 would make us go into deficit

Yes, right now 34 players on senior list. I thought it was clear, haha. Uwland must be upgraded. Clohesy could stay on rookie list.

Leigh Montana says: “They now have to play finals with what they’ve got; they go from the toys to the trophies now. I really like what they’ve done. They targeted specific players for specific roles that Damien Hardwick wants in his system. They didn’t need those picks early in this draft, they don’t need any more talented kids – they’ve got a stack of them. They need some senior players, that are ready to take them to the next level. They’re still going to get a top 10-15 player in Leo Lombard, an Academy kid (and) they’re going to get two top 10 Academy kids in next year’s draft – so it doesn’t matter that they didn’t use these (higher) picks.”

David King says: “He’ll (Rioli) bring some arrogance to this football club; a club that needs to work on their ball movement – there’s still plenty of scope for improvement. I think this is a fantastic acquisition at the absolute right time.”

Jon Ralph says: Daniel Rioli is exactly what the want in terms of their system … you bring him and Noble in, I just think it works so well.”

A 2 year look at things

In: Walter, Read, Rogers, Graham, Clohesy, Rioli, Noble, Himmelberg, Lombard, 2 Future 1st

Out Chol, Hollands, Sharp, Burgess, Lukosius, Atkins
Pick 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 23, 29

Assign each of the picks to the 5 academy kids

Essentially have turned
Chol, Hollands, Sharp, Burgess, Lukosius, Atkins, 23, 29
Into
Rioli, Noble, Clohesy, Himmelberg, ZUwland, Addinsall

Claps to Cameron and claps to the AFL for this system. Just don’t take it away from us when we start winning

Love when someone see’s the bigger picture. Individually trades can look like we have been done dry, but when you step back and see what we have, you can’t help but applaud.

It’s like a game of chess. Sometimes you gotta sacrifice a few pieces for the greater good!

Do people think we didn’t get value ?
We got everything we wanted didn’t we?
I’m torn on losing Luko but he was sucking up superstar dollars with B grade output
I’m listening if there’s a different perspective but the two biggest names to move this trade period were Houston and Rioli and we got one of them
That’s us- the Suns
Guys- we have a Rioli kitting up for us next year
The rest is just cheese

The whole picture is great. Last year we brought in 5 quality academy kids (I also count Clohesy) thanks to pick 4 overs. This year, we improved list as much as we could with two players under contract, we got points for Lombard and secured additional 2 F1 picks for more academy talent next year.

I thought trade with Magpies and Port was a very good one. To be able off-loading Atkins still shocks me. Luko is a high talent, but Dimma decided he is a surplus and does not fit into his plan (probably correct decision). Not paying part of his salary is great (if true). I listened to Luko agent and Luko will play as a centre forward for Port. I expect 40+ goals. Good luck to him. I hope people will not boo him. He wanted to stay.

Replacing tall depth Day and Casboult with Himmelberg seems fine.

We could probably hold on and trade only pick 6 for Rioli. That's where a lot of people go ballistic on us while ignoring under contract context, our situation.

Would additional future pick from potential pick 23 trade help us next year? Having 3 F1 picks seem enough. One or two of them could be traded for overs again.

Can we play finals and get a top gun during next trade period? Can we re-sign Rowell?

In a perfect world we would of traded out pick 6 day one and removed it from the conversation but overall as some have said if you look at the trades in totality and our best 22 next year it’s very exciting. If this team can’t win then we are cursed.

New guernsey, less Maccas and more sleek is the final puzzle piece

There’s always the unknowns though like injuries, VFL Umpires, scandals and the tribunal.
So for me just for my own sanity (been supporting GC Teams in all sports since the 1980s) I like to not have expectations.
Trust In Dimma (and Des) and let it unfold

Have you seen the new design. Less sleek is not the way I would describe it 😅
