Carlisle United have signed their 10th player during the 2025 January transfer window in an attempt to avoid relegation to the Conference.

The players signed are:
  • Josh Williams from Birmingham City
  • Callum Whelan from Gatehead
  • Will Patching from Derby County
  • Elliot Embleton from Blackpool
  • Cedwyn Scott from Notts County
  • Paul Dummett from Wigan
  • Sean Fusire (Loan) from Sheffield Wednesday
  • Charlie McArthur (Loan) from Newcastle United U21
  • Joe Hugill (Loan) from Manchester United U21
  • Stephen Wearne from MK Dons

Well, Management have made an effort to keep the Cumbrians in the Football League, hopefully the players will make a similar effort over the next 3/4 months.

Bolton let manager Ian Evatt go by “mutual consent”. Having made the League One Play Offs in 2023 and the League One Play Off Final in 2024 without promotion, the weight of unfulfilled expectation got to him.
Bolton are 9th now, so no disaster, but it’s clearly a regression and the fans began the blame game directed squarely at the manager.
The pressure got to Evatt - after a disappointing draw v Shrewsbury he entered the field to head butt a Shrewsbury player at the end of the game. Two weeks ago he said the boos of the fans don’t worry him as the ‘people that matter at the club are backing him’. Naturally that went down like a lead balloon.
More boos followed last weekend’s loss to Charlton and Evatt looked up to the stands and let loose a let huge GAGF at the fans.
I love the aggro and feistiness…. But he had to go…
