I'm pretty bored by the smurfs team.

I feel like for pretty much the entirety of the last 20 years they've had someone for us to really hate. Nowadays I'm not sure they have anyone that I even care about.

The Big Blue has always been my favourite, but I wonder if the Original Rivalry is starting to usurp it. Melbourne Derby still a distant third IMO. (If nothing else, it's good marketing that after 20 years we automatically know what these phrases mean.)

There were 18 million in losses the past 2 seasons, according to the annual report. There aren't enough transfers to cover that.

No 777 investment at all and all commercial derived income also gone from them.

Surely at the stage their shares can be seized. We need that Bloom deal or anyone to take up 777's obligations. Pretty much a useless shareholder.

Our wage bill already since last season's figures has dropped massively.

Ikon(1.1 million)

Da Silva (700k)

That's over 3 million off the books. Incoming is Mitch, Duncan, Rawlings & Hammill. Only Mitch would be on significant coin out of that lot.

For those interested in the Teague story it seems like a nonsense story. FIFA rules on eligibility:

Article 9 part c states:

c) the player:i) was fielded in a match in an official competition at “A” international level in any kind of football for his current association;

ii) at the time of being fielded for his first match in an official competition (at any level) in any kind of football for his current association, he held the nationality of the association which he wishes to represent;

In other words, for Teague to represent China now- he must have been eligible to represent them when he played U17 & U23 football for Australia.

China does not allow dual nationality so there's no way at this time Teague would have been eligbile.

Therefore, the story is a whole lot of nonsense.

I think it's a good signing, he was a good player during his last stint with Newcastle. It's not a particularly glamorous or sexy signing, but I've never felt good about Hamill as a starting centre back, so it definitely improves the squad.
