Transfer portal open and i saw a tweet saying a guy from South Carolina "agreed" to new terms a $1.5m NIL deal.
and Missouri's 5* DE is in the portal

I know it had been going on for decades but it still feels strange. but when it was under the table deals i dont think many players other then a Regie Bush got $1m+ deals.

Lol @ Oklahoma. They effectively forced Dillon Gabriel out so they could start Jackson Arnold and now Gabriel is in a great position to potentially win a National Championship while Arnold is in the portal.

I view these UC David and NIU moves as the exact opposite as each other.

For UC Davis, I think it's great for the school, but terrible for the MWC.

Whereas for NIU, I think it's good for the MWC and terrible for NIU.

With UC Davis, they get to elevate their non-football programs and keep in the strong big Sky conference and compete for FCS nattys rather then bury themselves in a now shitty conference (The only good football product that stayed was UNLV, and they're broke and lost what made them good to Purdue - So much for West Virginia rumours). But for a MWC perspective, they're adding a mouth to feed for sports that don't generate income, and leave the one thing UC Davis can help you with, under the Big Skys banner.

Then with NIU, Yes, it's a SLIGHTLY upwards move. But the travel expenses. You'll run at a net loss. So unless you can increase your recruitment in Nebraska/Iowa/Dakotas etc. You're probably hindering yourself in the long term. The MAC is a midwest 2/3 star pipeline heaven. But you're going to lose that as they'll go Ball State, Eastern Michigan etc. As they can play infront of family for all games, rather than just half. But from a MWC perspective, you probably brought in the one FBS football program outside of Texas State which was achievable which would add tv value. Texas State probably better, but anyone else was either FCS or unobtainable.

Belichick to UNC.

Going to be honest, did not think that was actually going to happen.

You guys are out of your minds…this overrated old man won’t win 10 games in any season he manages to stay upright for

It is about getting his son a job since part of the conditions he put forward is that his son becomes the HC after him.

What does smu stand for ?

Southern Methodist University.

It is the school in Texas with all the big wig oil money as alumni and where all the rich people send their kids.

SMU had an electric team in the 80s known as the Pony Express.

There's a 30 for 30 about them Pony Excess. It's a ripper.

Southern Methodist University once had the best football team "money could buy." Here's a trailer that looks into the huge scandal that ultimately led to a death penalty sentence for SMU's football team....

Here is the trailer for the ESPN documentary series 30 for 30, Pony Excess. The show, to air for the first time on television on December 11, features Southern Methodist University, the first school to be given the NCAA death penalty for paying players

SMU got the death sentence and the last 30 years others got nothing. Not even just the SEC ones. But USC and the U, Ohio St were doing it too.

NIL just took it out of thr shadows and made it worse. Can't regulate it now because it will just have select boosters go back to under the table deals. And there are now more bad ones.

cheers matey I asked a few guys in pub yesterday and they both said no such team ! I googled and got that same result ffs.

I appreciate you guys helping a relative newby, cheers.
There's a bunch of 30 for 30 documentaries that will help you build up some of the big historical stories which makes college football amazing.

It's the history that has a level that the NFL can't match.

And that there is why the CFP committee will be hesitant in putting an AAC champion Army or Navy into the CFP

They should move this game to kick off the season. Otherwise, it could embarrass the whole system.
