He's done pretty well as a tagger, so if you can impact the opponent, doesn't really matter if you don't get a tackle stat.
Lockdown roles don't require the hardness we need.

We are a very soft team and that includes some of our lockdown players.

There's no point shutting down one player if the other 20 or so can run around doing whatever they want and mauling us physically.

If a tagger impacts the player they are on, that's a win. Would I put Jordon into the middle without a role, probably not.

But yes, I am concerned with the Bice, Bowman selections in terms of physicality, and I don't know why we doubled up on Leidler and Paton.

It's as if we saw zero need for another KPF, or another inside mid prospect. Find that concerning.

Thanks to those who stayed up to post through last night's endless (melo)drama. Makes for entertaining reading in the cold light of day.

I see some people on the main board also think the Pies bid on Cochran was just a bluff. Prob not so likely at pick 53 but I do hope concerned football fan E. McGuire has been in touch with AFL House to denounce the unfairness of the Swans academy.

I think Andrew as KPD pick was the most important -it's def our no.1 vulnerability. I wonder about the lack of inside mids but maybe Gus and Cleary will be the difference next year. Other than that I feel the same way I feel most drafts, ie, these guys look promising, but who knows.

Plus it's the first big test for Kinnear's acolyte Keane. Something else to watch.

Jordon in isolation, not a problem. Jordon when combined with all the others who also aren't offering much all-round physicality, a problem.

Individually they're all fine. It's the sheer number of them together on the list compared to hard, tough players that is a massive concern.

This is where you are so right with this, i was so happy that we let Cochran go , the other plus is that the Filth can't complain about the academy .
Im pretty sure i posted after the VFLGF that KB was keen on Bice and he got his way . Will play round 0
It also puts our other 'defenders' who failed in the GF on notice.
Time to go with the unknown rather than what we already know.
Not many players get to play in two GFs in 3 years, but even fewer dish out performances responsible for 80 & 60 point losses in that time. The 60 point loss should have been in the vicinity of 90-100 points, such was the poor kicking for goal by Brisbane.

Bice is a rebound defender. Great kick & he gets the ball 21 times a game. The other two are lockdown defenders. Rampe/Cunningham/Fox types.

It's not the players. It's the type of players and who else was available.
But who knows whether the other players will be any good? That is my point. We picked a Rebounding HB, you wanted a HB. Then we addressed the lockdown defenders in the Rookie Draft. We picked a potential mid, Dattoli, who the recruiters see as a mid/forward not a forward/mid. He is tough inside according to all the gaff I have read. Very strong & bigger than Brett Kirk for bulk already. So, will play next season. We addressed our needs. I don't believe we need another Key Forward as you do. I think we have plenty & have drafted another Medium Forward, 186cm Ned Bowman. I think Jack Buller has potential & the ones we have played are just starting to realise their potential. Tom Hawkins didn't achieve anything until his 5th or 6th year. He was in and out or just very much a bit player. Then he took off. Talls take time & ours are no different. I think we have the makings of a really top line Key forward set up, which includes Buller. You watch the kid kick lots of goals in the VFL early. I think the VFL team will be a top 4 team next year & the delivery to the forwards will be sensational because we have drafted players who can really kick a ball.

Don’t mind the the Paton pick. Hopefully means Campbell doesn’t get ostracised to a back pocket
Well where does he play then. We're basically shutting every positional door in his face with this draft.

If we go smaller up forward, maybe a setup like:

Hayward Logan Campbell
Papley McL/Ama Hanily/Dattoli/Cleary

I in no way, shape or form, wanted a half back.

I think I half-jokingly mentioned Angus Clarke, from my hometown.

Lockdown small/medium yes. Though I don't know why we used both rookie picks with the midfield and KPP talent still available.

We're not shutting any doors. If Campbell's form warrants a spot next year, he will play regardless of our draftees. Whether that's forward, back or midfield remains to be seen.

You can only assume - the club might be moving away from the midfielders as defenders theory and actually picking guys that can defend. So potentially no more using Roberts, Florent or Lloyd down there
Roberts, Florent & Lloyd should all be fighting for the one same spot with Roberts ahead of the other two if we are to create list pressure.
The older two failed again. Roberts being younger can improve.
We need to get brutal.
