That's right - ROTHAM!
I'm freakin bullish on ROTHAM.

And most of the outs by end of the season aren't a skill issue, just an age/future issue.
Rotham is 26 next year. He is quite lucky to be on a list still after the last 3 seasons he’s had. Was quite bullish on him earlier in his career but if we manage to turn around our injuries, he’ll be playing WAFL

Very early prediction will be interesting how much this changes over a number of months.

Reid at HB will raise eyebrows but he’s a gun, played everywhere as a junior and it simply eases him into the big league. I see him being that Mid/Fwd that everyone wants but let’s take the heat off the kid and let him develop. He will be a target for sure early on with so much hype around the kid, so put some big boys such as Yeo, McGovern and Barrass around him.

Sheed everyone’s whipping boy goes to an outside mid which he is actually good at.

Tried to get a good mix of youth and experience in the AFL side. Players will be under the pump if the seconds are up and about which we haven’t had for a few seasons.

A few unlucky players that have missed and could easily be argued that they deserve a place ahead of others. It’s a reasonable squad if it can stay fit and on the park!!!!

Maybe still short of a few quality midfield options but that will present opportunities for some of the young guys. Can they step up. Early prediction but if we can maintain close to our best 22 we win at least a handful more games in 2024.

AFL Team

B: Cole Barrass Hough
HB: Duggan McGovern Yeo
C: Gaff Kelly Hunt
HF: Long Darling Cripps
FF: BWilliams Allen Ryan
Ruck: Flynn Sheed Ginbey

Interchange: Jones, HReid, Hewett, Chesser

Have to be realistic about Gaff and Sheed playing until youth below starts to hit AFL standard. If they start bad they should be dropped.

WAFL Team

B: Rotham HEdwards Witherden
HB: Burgiel Bazzo Baker
C: Waterman Trew Johnston
HF: Petruccelle Maric Dewar
FF: Brockman JWilliams AReid

My updated version would be

FB: Cole, Barass, Hough
HB: Duggan, McGovern, Yeo
C: Gaff, Kelly, Sheed
HF: Brockman, Darling, Cripps
FF: Ryan, O.Allen, Long
R: Flynn, Ginbey, Reid
I/C: Hewett, B.Williams, J.Jones, Hunt
EMG : Petch, Chesser, Maric, Hall

Think Gaff, Sheed start early on in a last chance saloon type pressure on them. We dont have much going on in the wing roles until Burgiel, Chesser can show some good form in the WAFLB.

Forward line picks itself i think as does defense really. Cant see anyone really having too much in the way of differences there. Rucks also pick themselves. Its just that midfield mix that will need alot of work as the year goes on

I see us finishing 12-16th with this lot. A small rise up the ladder and overtaking North/Essendon/Richmond and potentially Adelade/Gold Coast/Hawthorn if we get a injury free run

Heading too next years draft im not too fussed about finishing bottom this season like i was this. Think Sid Draper will be pick 1 but dont see the difference between a Draper/Finn O'Sullivan as big a difference as Reid to Nick Watson for example in terms of player and also list needs so happy to have a 12-16th year while the youngsters get some consistency in the WAFL and dont get gifted games without earning them

I know it’s a young team, but this is how I’d want to start and bring in the Sheeds, Gaffs, Coles, Petrucelles etc when the kids need a break. Let’s see what they can do. The two aims this year should be development and being able to stop a run on. If we can stay fit, the Beagles will have some serious firepower too.

B: Burgiel Barrass Duggan
HB: Yeo McGovern Hough
C: Hunt Kelly Chesser
HF: Cripps Darling Hewett
F: Ryan Allen Long
F: BWilliams, Ginbey, Reid
I/C: Flynn, Maric, Hall, Johnston

Sub: Brockman (but Culley when fit)

Beagles
B: Rotham HEdwards Witherden
HB: Jones Bazzo Cole
M: Sheed Trew Gaff
HF: Brockman AReid Waterman
F: Dewar JWilliams Rawlinson
R: Barnett, Petrucelle, LEdwards

I’d be concerned about Hewett’s endurance limitations to play wing.

Gaff's form at the back end of '23 warrants him starting next season.

He deserves a chance to lead the young mids into battle.

Here's what I see as a plausible R1 B22 if everyone is available bar the existing LTI's.

B: Cole Barrass Witherden
HB: Yeo McGovern Duggan
C: Gaff Ginbey Hunt
HF: Cripps Darling Hewitt
F: Ryan Allen Long
R: Bwilliams Sheed Kelly

I: Flynn, Hough, Brockman, Jones
E: Chesser, H. Reid, Maric, Petch

Getting excited for the future. It's already much harder to pick a side. Witherden, Sheed and Gaff would all have to be feeling the heat and would want to perform. Petch would have to be dead keen to displace one of Gaff or Sheed by the bye or his papers would be getting very close to stamped.

Hopefully our availability is much batter and we can get some rotation and exposure through our youngsters, without blowing them up.

Yeo went overseas to fix his injury issue's, if all good play him in his best position in the midfield.

B. Cole Barrass Hough
HB. Duggan McGovern H Reid
C. Gaff Ginbey Hunt
HF. Cripps Allen Sheed
F. Ryan Darling Brockman

R. Flynn Kelly Yeo

IC. Williams Petro Hewitt Long

Gaff & Sheed really need to show something greater than average to remain best 22.

B: Hough Barrass Cole
HB: Duggan McGovern H Reid
C: Hunt Yeo Gaff
HF: Cripps Darling Long
FF: Brockman Allen Ryan
Foll: Flynn Ginbey Kelly
Inter: B Williams Hewett Jones Waterman

Wanted to put Chesser in over Gaff. However Gaff ended last year in good form. We really need Yeo to be able to spend some in the midfield (he will play minutes in the backline to) hopefully his body holds up.

While the midfield is very exciting with Ginbey, Hewitt, Reid.... through in Chesser Long Hall Brockman (could he play some midfield minutes,?) it really is the weakness of the team atm we need Kelly to have another big year and Yeo too not get injured and play midfield

J. Williams, Barnett, H. Edwards, Jamieson, A. Reid, Livingstone... The Beagles side has sooo many talls over 198, it's hard to see it actually functioning as a team if they're all fit... we don't have a Beagles 2's do we?

Think I’ve got everyone.

I recon you're about right, BUT, I just think if fit, Jones has to be coming off the half back line. Before he got injured last year he gave us some real zip and precision kicking out of defence.

For mine Maric goes as sub, jones half back and reid FF with BW to the bench. Yep, gaff to the WAFL.
