Very happy to seen Piastri on pole! Even if it’s a sprint race and not a full one. The silver lining though is when McLaren issue team orders it’s easier to concede a Sprint race win to Norris than a full race. Oscar will also get brownie points for being a team player but not really care too much.

Didn't catch it in the coverage but F1 sites are reporting that after the "woo" response when he told he got pole Piastri said "I should get food poisoning more often".

Even more impressive pole drive in that case. I can't imagine that driving an f1 car on a bumpy track like that after a bout of food poisoning would be a pleasant experience. Good on him for keeping focus on that last lap.

Imagine his instructions will be to do all he can to support his team mate in both the sprint and race sessions though.

He'll definitely play good team mate during the sprint as it's only 1 pt. Not so sure about the race if he outqualifies Lando and has a chance to win though.

He’s a team player.
And has stated that Lando needs the Championship points more than he does.
He is quite happy to achieve team championship at this stage of his career.
No doubt would be a different story if he was in the fight for drivers.

KMag is ill. Because he wasn't well enough to drive yesterday and being a sprint weekend there was sprint quali, Bearman has to drive in the sprint. Then because there is no practice today and with the surface being new they didn't want to put KMag into the car and straight into quali without any practice sessions. Plus, Bearman has been lightning quick around this track and if he was told to abort his final SQ3 lap and go again he could have pushed the top 5.

Because Oscar wasn't. He was 1 second behind Lando then under vsc was 2.4
