Are you serious bud? Essendon's memberships and crowds over 20 years of mediocrity has been phenomenal. We have dominated you blokes in memberships in that time.

Just because you guys are finally looking like a strong club that wins finals does not mean you can "lol" at us.

Imagine if we start winning finals and contending, we too will get 100 k regularly.

Have some decorum..

West Coast have had over 100K Members for several years now.

Not too sure why you are angry with me.
I got Essendon's current tally from their website & just posted an update.

You may have beaten us for membership on many occasions, but only once in the last 5 years and not since 2022.

No need to play that game, slight of hand.. We’ve had low rent stuff from Tigers fans in recent years who’ve gone eerily quiet it must be said…. Essendon’s crowds and membership have been admirable given its failures the last 20 years.

Anyhow, enjoy the rebirth of your club, it’s good for football.

Making finals helps I’d say.

For the Blues, The master stroke of your previous CEO in giving free memberships away with sales in 2022 was a great promo that created a groundswell of buyers without commitment ahead of a strong 2023 season. That would be the catalyst for the membership tally takeoff. I can’t remember his name, he got the sack but he fixed membership.

What game?

You have taken my post totally out of context.

All I did was post Essendon’s current tally from their website which I have already explained.

You are better than that Dave.

You can’t help but feel that Essendon are the little brother of the ‘Big 4’ given the other three have all hit 100k.

I’m not sure that Essendon can or reach that total in the near future.

Also interesting to read that Carlton will (rightly) advocate for extra MCG home games given their huge membership. They certainly deserve it though I wonder it if would be at the expense of any additional Essendon home games at the MCG given we’ll be asking for the same.

At this point you’d have to give them to Carlton if it’s a competition between the two.

I always think we are the third wheel in the Blues/Pies relationship! Lol
they both hate each other more so than the Dons..

It's pretty simple, the two biggest clubs are Collingwood and Carlton.

Then the rest.

Carlton went from a 7-4 to 6-5 split in 2015 - the club wanted 8 games a year at the G then...the problem for them is the AFL took that opportunity to have a non victorian side play another game at the G, leaving them to play games at Docklands against victorian opposition that would draw higher, thus defeating the purpose.

It seems you’re asking for a 6-5 split in favour of the MCG now which seems reasonable. That would be ideal for Essendon too but I’m not sure we’d get that type of deal.

Essendon are hopeful of a 6 (Marvel) / 5 (MCG) deal from 2025. That’s an additional MCG game, as per what the Blues are chasing.

This is why only 4 teams in Vic can reach 100,000 plus members.
“Why they’re called the big 4”.

Geelong Hawthorm and Melbourne couldn’t do it off the back of recent premierships while the other 3… North, Bulldogs and Saints have no chance.
