I think by the time Keeler is good to go (assuming he’s any good of course) Marshall will most likely be past it. Turns 29 at the end of the year. Keeler looked like a pretty special ruckman as a junior didn’t he, I’d be exploring that at least in the VFL.

Marshall is now at his prime and hopefully he stays healthy for the next 3 years which will take him to the end of his contract in 2027 when he will be 31.

Saints played OK despite a 2nd ruck in Campbell as over 30 against Brisbane.

Rucks will all play in their 30s as per your example. Marshall I expect to last till 34-35 in the AFL.

As Sarcoidevo mentioned, he has a very big issue to deal with closer to home. It may not be the cause of him leaving the club, but his ability to focus purely on his job is bound to be affected.

Not that big a deal imho. The list and contact situation will be mapped out and SOS will stick it out till trade/draft season is over, else he'd have quit already.

Our guys would get pinged for "in the back" if they played his style.

Any changes in the assistants I wonder. It’s still pretty early in Ross’ tenure and Lenny and BJ have changed up a bit. I wouldn’t think they’d be doing it yet.

BJ was given the midfield role, despite his lack of experience.
I'm not seeing any glaring issues with the midfield other than the midfielders we don't have.

Something else I learnt today the Saints do have a ruck coach in Darren Flanagan. He is the ex Cats ruckman 62yo Im thankful our guys are getting some extra specialist tuition.

Yeah not joking about Tom. Been a gun forward in a gun side for a long time. Could do worse.

He was on a highway to nowhere trying to manage the Sandringham alignment to become competitive. Both clubs are to blame but the Saints bottom end of the list has been very ordinary the injuries to senior players didnt help and the Sandringham top up players are the worst in the comp. He didnt know who he would have in the side from one week to the next, there was nothing to gain for Jake being dealt that hand each week.

Good luck to ever takes it on next year at least there are no expectations to be competitive. Im amazed the club havent made it a priority to have a stand alone side.

We were going to have one years ago, don't know what happened I think we couldn't afford it.

Would only be a stand alone if the AFL runs a reserve comp, all VFA clubs would need to go into another comp or disband.
